Biography
Early life
Danny (real name Danni Chaudhry) grew up in Moffat, Scotland, one of three children, attended all-boys public school Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh.

Career
He began stand up in 1998 after going to see his first comedy show at the Edinburgh Festival. A year later, he won The Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award, Britain's biggest competition for comedy newcomers. In 2001, Danny took his first full length solo show to the Edinburgh Festival, where, within a week, he had sold out his entire three-week run, and was forced to add extra shows to cope with demand for tickets.
The following year Danny returned to Edinburgh with a new show. Ultimately a room three times the size was not enough, with more extra shows added at the end of the festival. By the spring of 2003, Danny's comedy started to take a different direction. That year he also entered the Australian comedy market, with his first solo show at the invitation-only Melbourne Comedy Festival. The success of his live work led to various TV appearances on high-profile national Australian TV shows such as Rove Live, The Glasshouse, and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala. In November of that year, Danny was invited to perform on the Royal Variety Show.
In 2005, Danny was invited to take part in the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, where the Montreal Gazette described him as 'the stand out hit of the festival.' In November, Danny was invited to take part in the inaugural Las Vegas Comedy Festival alongside some of the biggest names in comedy including Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock.

Danny Bhoy began stand up in 1998. A year later, he won The Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award, Britain's biggest competition for comedy newcomers. In 2001, he took his first full length solo show to the Edinburgh Festival, where, within a week, he had sold out his entire three-week run. The following year Danny returned to Edinburgh with a new show which attracted more and more fans, bowled over by his "razor-sharp mind, and quick-witted one liners." Over the next few years, Danny eschewed the regular comedy club scene in favour of full length shows, which seemed the natural progression for a comic who began to display an innate talent for story-telling on stage.
Since 2003, Danny has made annual appearances at all the major comedy festivals around the world. His first solo show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival was described as a "stunning debut by one of the finest observational comics around." The success of his live work led to various TV appearances on high- profile national Australian TV shows such as Rove Live, The Glasshouse, and several Melbourne International Comedy Festival Galas. Since 2003, Danny has regularly been the top-selling box office comedian in his home town of Edinburgh, but in just a few years he has also broken ticket records at festivals in Australia and New Zealand. His 2005 show about his travels around Australia was described as "effortlessly funny" by one critic, and "the stand up equivalent of Bill Bryson" by another.

2007 saw Danny embark on his first massive tour of Australia, which included 94 dates across all the major regional towns and cities, and ended with a triumphant series of shows at the Sydney Opera House where he filmed his first DVD, Danny Bhoy: Live at the Sydney Opera House. "[The DVD] will have you rolling around on the couch for a good couple of hours... utterly charming and laugh out loud funny." Courier Mail, Brisbane. He then went on to his 3rd sell-out tour of New Zealand, and became the first stand-up comedian ever to do a run of English-speaking shows in India.
Danny also returned to Montreal in 2007 for the rare accolade of performing a 10-night solo run at the Gesu Theatre which was completely sold out, and received further rave reviews including this from the Montreal Gazette. "He had the crowd on side from the beginning and never let go. No surprise he got a standing O." The show attracted major interest from all the major American TV networks, and has nicely positioned Danny for a break into the North American market in the near future. In the meantime, Danny continues to fulfil his commitment to the live performances he loves so much, with a major tour of the UK planned for June 2008, which will see him return to the Edinburgh Festival in August for what will be his 8th solo show.
