(Not to be confused with Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn)

Pig, Goat, Banana, Cricket

Yup, it's another show with four names you have to get to know.

One is Indian looking. One is smart.  One has great hair. One is a girl.---- Aw crap!  That's "Nicky, Ricky, Dicky (hee hee), and Dawn"

Okay so the show I'm talking about....well...writing about is Pig, Goat, Banana, Cricket....I love copy and paste.   They always bring pizza.   And Copy and Paste on the computer/phone/tablet too.

On this show there is a pig who loves pickles and is always getting in trouble.  He's a smart version of Patrick Star from Spongebob Squarepants.

Then there's a goat who wants to play her music for everyone but no one wants to listen.  That's kind of like Squidward on Spongebob Squarepants.

Then there's a talking banana.  Well all the characters talk.  It's a cartoon.  This banana is kind of a forest ranger.  He bonds with a bunch of scouts and they become his minions.

Then there is a cricket.  Trust me.... put the drugs down.  This show does all the work.  Cricket....that's what he is and that's his name, like all the characters.  He's an mad, but for a good cause, scientist.  He love Goat.  And for you adults .... he wants to eat Goat.

There's more to tell but I'm tired....zzzzzzzz.

(Startled awake)....

What are you still doing here?  Click on all the other posts.  I'll update you on this show again later.  I think you can watch episodes on YTV GO.

Fluff my pillow before you go.  Hey, where is my pillow?  What are these feathers doing in my mouth?  Never mind.

Later gator.

Oh, wait.  There's some late breaking news on the wire.  Oh no.  That's just a pigeon taking a crap while sitting on a wire.  How do they do that without falling off.  They have great timing too.

Okay here's some more information on the show.  There's a quiz at the end and it's worth 250% of your grade.  Oh and if you fail I take all your favorite toys.

Pig Goat Banana Cricket (also abbreviated as PGBC) is an American animated television series created by Dave Cooper and Johnny Ryan for Nickelodeon. The show follows the interwoven adventures of the titular quartet.

The show premiered on July 18, 2015, at 10:30 AM, with a sneak preview that aired two days before on July 16, after the 2015 Kids' Choice Sports Awards.

On June 25, 2015, Nickelodeon renewed Pig Goat Banana Cricket for a second season ahead of the series premiere.

Plot

Pig Goat Banana Cricket focuses on the titular quartet, a group of best friends and roommates: Pig, who is obsessed with pickles, Goat, who has musical dreams, Banana, who loves video games and Cricket, who is talented at mad science. The four embark on surreal journeys on their own, which are then interwoven together; the action is set in Boopelite City, a gigantic and whirring metropolis where many of the buildings look like archaic clockworks. The streets are constantly teeming with characters of intensely varied description, and the sidewalks are crammed with animals, robots, walking fruit, sea creatures, and more. The four roommates live in a treehouse, which sits in the middle of the city, surrounded by the forest, the seas and anywhere else the friends could possibly go.

The title characters met in high-school in the 21st century and became room-mates shortly after, remaining so for 29 years after which they were transformed into infants and took 20 years to regain their adulthood meaning they have been room-mates for at least 49 years, and that the show takes place after 2028 (episodes 13-18) and after 2048 (episodes 18+) now being over 3 decades in the future. And 2 + 2 = 22

Characters

Main characters

Pig (voiced by Matt L. Jones) – a dim-witted pig who has a large liking for pickles. Pig is the "fool" of the group and causes most of their problems. Pig is hardly able to read by himself. He says his catchphrase "that's my favorite!", often when he sees something or someone he likes. His name may be short for Pignatius. Pig is resistant to what would normally be life-threatening injuries.

Goat (voiced by Candi Milo) – a sweet and cheerful goat woman who has been Pig's room-mate for the past 29 years. She is the "artist" of the group being able to play the guitar and having a penchant for acting. Goat can be very easily irritated by others' antics and often displays anger, causing her to babble, speak gibberish, and occasionally puff up her chest when angry (e.g. "Flib flabbin' flibble flubbin!"). Her catchphrase is "Totally goatally", which see says when she agrees with something. Goat has normal human-shaped ears (not goat-shaped) normally obscured underneath the locks of hair on the sides of her head. The horns on top of her head have holes in them.

Banana (voiced by Thomas F. Wilson) – a lazy, selfish banana who enjoys playing video games. He has boy scouts for henchmen. Banana is the "wise-guy" of the group who loves to have fun and pull pranks. Banana is afraid of primates, because they eat his kind. Banana tends to cry when put into pressure but quickly stops. He says his catchphrase "Sweet mama's monkeys" when he is surprised or shocked, and "simpledy doo" after finishing a task.

Cricket (voiced by Paul Rugg) – a cricket who is a genius inventor and speaks with a lisp. Cricket is the "brains" of the group. He is also the most responsible of the four and usually is forced to clean up their messes. Cricket has a crush on Goat, and while she has hugged him (and Banana/Pig simultaneously) and said she loves him, this can simply be behavior towards a pal. He sometimes says "Holy laser farts", when he is surprised or shocked.

Recurring characters

Burgerstein, Cricket's lab assistant. He has a burger for a head and is made up of machines and other things. As his name implies, he is based on Frankenstein's Monster.

Goat's reflection (voiced by Candi Milo) is see in many episodes as Goat looks in the mirror often for self-admiration or grooming. She is eventually revealed to be a distinct entity, and she and Goat get into an argument when TJ gives the reflection the 'Customer of the Day' award even though it was Goat who got him a soufflé.

Thomas Jefferson (later nicknamed TJ) debuts in "The Chronicles of Cutesachusetts" where he emerges from a nickel to battle Goat, and later saves the day by battling Lady Primavera. He later runs a smoothie café in "Zombie Broheims" where he prevents Goat from being Customer of the Day because he swore to hate her forever. While discussing cookies she made, he calls Betsy Ross a hag.

Sleazy Beave (voiced by Jeff Bennett) – a male beaver who debuted in "Fudge-pocalypse". Sleazy Beave is open to pretty much anything as he is nearly homeless. He was willingly about to get married to Delooney Hamshank (by the force of Ma Hamshank) but was then pranked by Pig who was wearing the wedding outfit. He appears to have a secondary superhero personality named The Masked Maniac as well.

Rasta Rat (voiced by Jeff Bennett) – Rasta Rat is a very laid-back rat who has dreadlocks and speaks in a Jamaican accent. He wears a green, red, and yellow beanie hat. A running gag is he constantly gets slammed onto the fourth wall.

President of the Planet (voiced by James Adomian) – the dog who rules the entire planet. He can be a noble person when he wants to be, but can also be quite brute and honest in his opinions, like when he told Goat that her superpower was complete garbage without a second thought in "Super Space Meatball".

Junior Rangers (voiced by Candi Milo, Yuri Lowenthal and Maile Flanagan)
-The Junior Rangers are the "boy scout" division of the Boopelite park rangers. They are a group of children varying in species who do various activities like real life Boy Scouts. They are watched over by Banana, who often lazes on the job. Some of the rangers do work for Banana that differs from normal activities, such as pranking the Hamshanks or rescuing Banana from Big Ballah Koala.

* Barton is a rat.
* Tom and Tabitha are alligators or crocodiles.
* an elephant.

Ranger Rhino (voiced by Jeff Bennett) – a rhinoceros who is in charge of the Junior Rangers. He often tells off Banana for not doing his duty but still has a soft spot for him, such as in "Wheelbarrow Full of Nachos" he asks Banana to hang out with him.

Breakfast Burrito (voiced by John DiMaggio) – a very lazy burrito. For example, in "The Chronicles of Cutesachusetts", Banana simply asked him to put away a jar of peanut butter, only for him to immediately sit on his couch and fall asleep.

Armpit Willy (voiced by John DiMaggio) – an alligator who wears a beanie and has thick, long armpit hairs. His catchphrase is "bushy bushy".
Lady Primavera Van de Snuggles (voiced by Dyana Liu) debuts in "The Chronicles of Cutesachusetts" and returns in "Gauntlet of Humiliation" where she is visiting Armpit Willy at his pool when Pig makes a fast food delivery to him.

Production

Pig Goat Banana Cricket was created by Dave Cooper and Johnny Ryan for Nickelodeon. The show is based on their comic from Nickelodeon Magazine published in 2004. Cooper and Ryan are both veteran comic book artists; the show was described as their first big endeavor for television, though the former had been used for his design work on Futurama.

Developed from Pig Goat Banana Mantis!, a pilot directed by the independent animator Nick Cross, the stories were described by Ryan as difficult to write, given their intertwined nature and the 11-minute running time. This process was smoothened by the running time being doubled and the direction from the network being clarified. The two had to adjust to the studio environment, and described their career in comics as preparing them for production. Jones, Milo, and Wilson reprise their roles from the original short, with Mantis, who had been previously voiced by James Urbaniak, retooled as Cricket due to a character of the same name in Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, another Nickelodeon show.

The series tends to go back and forth between hand-draw animation and flash animation.

The series was picked up for a second season prior to its premiere.
Ratings for the series were initially favorable. However, ratings began to experience a steep drop mid-season (as an example, the episode "Mall Ya Later" only pulled in 0.79 million viewers) and the last episode aired on Nickelodeon, "It's Time to Slumber Party", was only viewed by 0.95 million viewers. Only the first 20 episodes of the show aired on Nickelodeon.
Following the broadcast of "It's Time To Slumber Party" on February 26, 2016, Nickelodeon removed the series from its schedule and the status of the show remained in limbo for 7 months. This was until it was announced in September 2016 that the series would be moved to sister network Nicktoons on September 25, 2016. A series being moved to Nicktoons usually signals the cancellation of a Nickelodeon series, as Nicktoons usually serves as a 'burn-off' channel for underperforming series.

Broadcast and reception

The series premiered on YTV in Canada on October 10, 2015. In Australia and New Zealand, it premiered on Nickelodeon on October 3, 2016.

The pilot, published by Cross and titled Pig Goat Banana Mantis!, was promoted to a Staff Pick on Vimeo. A writer for Juxtapoz praised the animation, calling it reminiscent for those of "the Ren and Stimpy generation". Andrew Wheeler of Comics Alliance noted that Ryan's billing as "J. Ryan" was likely to separate him from his controversial reputation in the underground comix scene. Heidi MacDonald of the Comics Beat wrote that it looked "wonderful".

Man with a Plan

Man with a Plan (TV series) (comedy)

"How you doin?"  Yes Joey is back.....well now he's Adam.
Liza was the wife on "Yes, Dear"  I've always liked her work though I haven seen a lot of it.

Matt's character finds out how hard parenting is when Liza's character goes back to work and leave Matt's character at home with the kids.

I saw a promo for the show.  Matt Leblanc as Adam is in a car with three kids in the back asking for food and drink.  He offers a Listerine breath strip.  He looks older with a unique hairstyle that is ...... unique.

I will have to watch more of the show before I say more.  Matt seems to be doing good in this new character.  I think the show looks promising.  I could also compare this show to Kevin Can Wait.  I hope that show does well.  I like who I'm seeing on the show.

America is in this show...not the country(ies) but the girl named America.  She was Betty in Ugly Betty.  I never got to watch that show as much as I wanted but I will make a great effort to watch Ugly Betty and Superstore.

Tell me what you think.  Zany1968@sympatico.ca

You have to pay to watch episodes on YouTube.  Don't rob a bank or take money out of your parent's Rolls Royce or anything.  When you do find (wink wink) the money to watch the show on YouTube or tv or whatever tell me what you think.  If you click on enough ads here and on my other pages I will be able to afford to watch it too.

Okay, now read on and learn about the show and then watch it however you can.  Give me a dollar. I promise I won't (hick) buy booze.  Really, I just want a hamburger (hick)(burp)(fart).   I'm allowed to say fart.  They say fart in Canadian parliament.  I here saying fart is politer than saying a person is a Whittling Plunkey.

Okay, read and study because there is a test.

Cast and characters

Main

America Ferrera as Amy Dubanowski, a Cloud 9 employee of ten years who worked as an associate, then floor supervisor, then assistant manager, and very briefly store manager before being fired in the season one finale. At age 19, she married her high school sweetheart, Adam, with whom she has a daughter, Emma. Amy immediately clashes with new associate Jonah, as he strives for change and has a sometimes pretentious attitude that annoys her. In order to keep strangers from calling her by her name, Amy wears a new name on her name tag in each episode (though she wears her real name on the 11th episode of season 1). She is promoted to assistant manager in the episode "Demotion".

Ben Feldman as Jonah, Cloud 9's newest associate. Jonah makes a terrible impression on his first day and immediately clashes with Amy, but their relationship has since improved somewhat. As revealed in "Secret Shopper", Jonah is from a well-to-do background and came to Cloud 9 because he flunked out of business school in Chicago and ran up debt. He was driving aimlessly until he stopped at a Cloud 9 in St. Louis and saw the "help wanted" sign.

Lauren Ash as Dina Fox, Cloud 9's assistant store manager, who is extremely connected to her pet birds, but out of touch with other people. Her by-the-book management style often clashes with employees, and even her boss Glenn when he espouses his religious beliefs in the workplace. In "Demotion", Dina takes a voluntary demotion to associate to pursue Jonah romantically, after Jonah claims the reason he resists her romantic advances is because she is his supervisor. After her coworkers stage a walkout in the episode "Labor", Dina does not participate and reassumes her assistant manager role.

Colton Dunn as Garrett, a Cloud 9 associate who is paralyzed from the waist down. He is often heard making announcements over the store PA system. He enjoys pulling pranks on his coworkers and even customers, usually out of boredom.

Nico Santos as Mateo Fernando Aquino Liwanag, a Filipino (mistaken as Mexican in Season 1, Episode 2) Cloud 9 associate. He is an ambitious new hire who wants to climb the ladder at Cloud 9 as quickly as possible. He immediately begins a rivalry with fellow new hire Jonah by pointing out his mistakes. He came out as gay to Glenn in the episode "Wedding Day Sale." It is further revealed in the episode "Olympics" that he is an undocumented worker, though Glenn is oblivious when Mateo tries to confess.

Nichole Bloom as Cheyenne Tyler Lee, a Cloud 9 associate who is pregnant at the start of the series. Cheyenne is 17 years old, a high school student, and engaged to her boyfriend, Bo. She delivers a baby girl named Harmonica in the episode "Labor".

Mark McKinney as Glenn Sturgis, Cloud 9's store manager. Glenn is socially awkward and constantly positive, and he clashes with Dina when he brings his Christian religious beliefs into the workplace. Glenn and his wife have no children of their own, but they are foster parents. It is revealed that his family owned a hardware store before Cloud 9 took their business.

Recurring

Johnny Pemberton as Bo Derek Thompson, Cheyenne's immature, wannabe-rapper fiancé and her baby's father.

Kaliko Kauahi as Sandra, a Cloud 9 employee who has trouble bringing up legitimate concerns and being heard. She will often attempt to make her voice heard only to shoot herself down shortly after, or during. In "Labor," she revealed that she is a midwife.

Sean Whalen as Sal, a creepy, older Cloud 9 employee. It is implied that he harasses Sandra sexually, making comments about her breasts both at work and at her home.

Josh Lawson as Tate, a Cloud 9 pharmacist who is often rude, panicky, sarcastic and brags about himself. He often passes his job onto other employees whenever he can.

Linda Porter as Myrtle, an old Cloud 9 employee who is often quite confused and forgetful.
Jon Barinholtz as Marcus, a dim-witted Cloud 9 employee who briefly dates Dina after Jonah rejects her.

Development and filming

The series was one of three pilots picked up by NBC on January 14, 2015, along with the sitcom Crowded; both were green lighted to series status the same day (May 7, 2015). The series was the first project for Ruben Fleischer's newly formed company The District as part of a two-year deal with Universal, as he directed the pilot episode.

Superstore was officially picked up as a series on May 7, 2015, by NBC. The first season consisted of eleven episodes, after the episode order was reduced from thirteen on October 19, 2015. It was announced on November 2, 2015, that the show would air the premiere on January 4, 2015, but would be airing two back-to-back episodes on November 30, 2015, following The Voice.

Casting

It was announced on February 20, 2015, that Lauren Ash had been cast as a series regular, and would be playing Dina, the store’s assistant manager. On March 2, 2015, Deadline reported that Superstore had added three other cast members, which was Colton Dunn, Mark McKinney and Nico Santos. The website reported that Dunn would be playing Garret, the often-sarcastic narrator of the piece, McKinney would be playing Glenn, the intensely store manager, and Santos would be playing Mateo, another new employee and a brown-noser from an impoverished background. On March 12, 2015, Nichole Bloom was announced to have joined the show as Cheyenne, a very pregnant teenage employee.

Deadline announced on March 13, 2015, that Ben Feldman had landed the male lead in Superstore, as Jonah, a new employee in the superstore Cloud 9. Three days later, TVLine announced on March 16, 2015, that America Ferrera had landed the female lead as the floor supervisor Amy in the Cloud 9 store. It was also reported that Ferrera was also a producer for the show.

The Mindy Project crossover

See also: The Mindy Project

The series is implied to take place in the same fictional universe as Hulu's The Mindy Project, another series also produced by NBCUniversal Television. The episode "Under the Texan Sun" has Mindy Lahiri and Peter Prentice shopping at an Austin, Texas Cloud 9 location.

Reception

Ratings

The series debuted as a "preview" on November 30, 2015 following an episode of The Voice with 7 million viewers making the second highest new comedy behind Life in Pieces. The series then moved to its regular Monday at 8:00 pm timeslot on January 4, 2016 with more than 6 million viewers making the highest rated comedy that did not have The Voice as a lead-in since The Michael J. Fox Show back in September 2013.

Critical reception

Early reviews for the series were mixed. According to Metacritic, the first season of Superstore holds a score of 58 out of 100, indicating "mixed to average reviews" based on 21 critics. On another review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes, the first season holds a 54% with a "Rotten" rating, based on 24 critics, with an average rating of 4.4/10. The general consensus is: "Superstore's talented cast and obvious potential are slightly overshadowed by a tonally jumbled presentation and thin, formulaic writing." As the first season went along, however, reviews started to become more positive. Following the finale "Labor", the Los Angeles Times called it one of TV's best new comedies." Pilot Viruet of The A.V. Club wrote that the "first season ... got better and more confident as it moved on", and that the first season finale "is a nice little cap to a nice little sitcom that could’ve used a little more attention." After the series aired its Olympics special, Variety wrote that the show was "a funny, pointed and essential workplace comedy", and that "there are no weak links in [the] ensemble".

What words come to mind?  Virgin, Mary Jane, Virginity, Sex, Baby......insert your own.....If you're a guy don't take that literally or there will be a show about you.

She's cute isn't she?  Now I want to watch this show.

This is a sitcom about a chick girl woman who accidentally gets pregnant.  She doesn't get pregnant by having sex.  She's at the doctor for a check up or procedure and then I guess paperwork gets mixed up.  I guess the doctor didn't say: "Now let's get you a baby."  I haven't seen the actual pilot but I have seen bits and bites plus the promos......That almost became a bad joke.

Anyway.... She gets the results and she's pregnant. I guess women should walk carefully when shopping.  I'm trying to be .... not perverted but sex happens in certain specific ways so don't (slap!!!) slap me....  Hey!!! I haven't said anything yet.... (slap!!!!).  Okay, I'm not into getting slapped (ducking....) ha.... you mi... (slap!!!) ....ssed.  Crap!

Okay so like I said women should walk carefully when they shop.  They could be picking up a thing from the floor and ......adults know what could happen if a man came from behind........ Okay and she's pregnant.   Yes, having clothes on will help in avoiding an "accidental" pregnancy.

So let's just go with the fact that she got pregnant because I can't talk about the show unless that happened.

Okay so while you were looking away I watched the trailer below....well not all the way through but it was funny and corny but I want to watch the show but not so much for the comedy.  There are beautiful women and sexy situations.

So I found out that she went in for a pap smear and the girl in the room next to hers is in for an insemination.  The doctor is distracted and swaps the files and the rooms.  She puts the swimmers in our virgin and checks the health of the other girls equipment.  Our virgin stops being our virgin and now becomes our prego....I think that means something in Spanish.  Oh yeah, her name is Jane. You know like the title of the show?  I will give more of my opinion after I see enough of the show.  I might have to get cable or a specialty channel or something.

You can always tell me what you think by commenting at the bottom of this post.
