The show is an American sitcom that aired on NBC from 1988 to 1992. The series was originally based on the British sitcom of the same name. USA was added to the title when it was shown in the UK. During its four-season run, the series was bounced to and from various time periods on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. When the series moved from its post Cheers slot on Thursdays to a post Night Court slot on Wednesdays in 1990, series regular Jere Burns appeared in a network promo side-by-side with John Larroquette of Night Court. Except for a brief run on E! Entertainment Television in the mid 1990s, the series has not aired on television in recent years.
Dear John Synopsis
The show starred Judd Hirsch as easy going high school teacher John Lacey who is dumped by his wife, Wendy, via a letter. Wendy ends up with everything in the divorce settlement, including custody of the couple's son, forcing John to move into an apartment in Queens.
John soon joins the One Two One Club, a self help group for divorced, widowed or lonely people. The group is led by Louise (Jane Carr), a sex obsessed British woman. Other members of the group include Kate McCarron (Isabella Hofmann), a sweet divorcée, Kirk Morris (Jere Burns), a cocky ladies' man, Ralph Drang (Harry Groener), a shy and neurotic tollbooth collector, and Margie Philbert (Billie Bird), a feisty senior citizen.
The British version of Dear John was followed almost completely.
John has been turned into a timid man after his wife left him; Kate desperate to prove she's not frigid; Ralph dullness personified who rides his "motorcycle combination"; Kirk pretends he has a secret life of mystery and intrigue; Mrs Arnott who rarely says or does anything and Louise who runs the group. She calls Ralph "Rayf" and has an unhealthy interest in the physical side of people's relationships (she always asks furtively "were there any... sexual problems"?)
Dear John
This madcap bunch were knitted together by Sullivan's brilliant writing. In one episode the group are invited to a party at the home of a Mrs Boyd-Peters. Louise tells them the woman has an unfortunate personal problem - but they don't know what. If my aforementioned lecture - don't worry it still won't happen - includes how to write the perfect scene, the one in which they find out what her problem is would be it.

David Michael Letterman (born April 12, 1947) is an American Emmy Award-winning television host and comedian. His first major success occurred on the long-running NBC television program, Late Night with David Letterman, before moving to CBS in 1993 to his current place on the Late Show. Letterman's ironic, often absurd comedy is heavily influenced by former Tonight Show hosts Steve Allen, Johnny Carson and Jack Paar.
Letterman has been hosting late night television for over 26 years, the longest of anyone outside of Johnny Carson who retired after 30 years.

Early career
David Letterman was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. His father, Harry Joe Letterman, was a florist who died in 1973; his mother Dorothy Letterman (née Hofert, now Dorothy Mengering) (born August 12, 1921), a Presbyterian church secretary of German descent, is an occasional figure on the show, usually at holidays and birthdays. He has an older sister Janice and a younger sister Gretchen. One of his early comic influences was the Cincinnati talk show host Paul Dixon, but the person who influenced his career most was Tonight Show host Johnny Carson.
Letterman seems to have had a typical middle class childhood. He lived near the Speedway where the Indianapolis 500 is held, and while he didn't race, he did enjoy collecting model cars, including racers. (Gary Graves. "Letterman Gets Moment in Hot Seat." USA Today, 23 May 2005, p. 1C.) He would also tell an interviewer for Esquire magazine, that while he was growing up, he admired his father's ability to tell jokes and be the life of the party. Unfortunately, Dave was also deeply affected by his father's health problems. Joe Letterman had two heart attacks-- the one that killed him at the young age of 57, and a much earlier attack, when he was only 36 and Dave was just a young boy. The fear of losing his dad was constantly with him as he grew up.
Letterman attended Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis. According to the Ball State Daily News, he originally had wanted to attend Indiana University, but his grades weren't good enough, so he decided to attend Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. (Gail Koch. "After Two Decades, Letterman Wit Shows No Signs of Stopping." Ball State Daily News, 23 February 2002.) He graduated from what was then called the Department of Radio and Television in 1969. He is also a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. The Ball State University website says that Letterman began his broadcasting career at the college's student-run radio station, WBST, a 10-watt campus station that is today part of Indiana Public Radio. The station played classical music. Letterman was briefly an announcer and also did some news. He was fired, according to the campus website, for treating classical music with irreverence.
Letterman then went on to become involved with the founding of another campus station, WAGO-AM 570 (now known as WCRD, 91.3). A rare 1969 aircheck of Letterman on WAGO can be heard here (paid registration required). (The voice of Letterman's first wife Michelle Cook can be heard on the clip, playing a character in a sketch).
Weather
Letterman began his career as a radio talk show host on WXLW (AM), and on Indianapolis television station WLWI (now called WTHR) as a local anchor and weatherman. He received recognition for his unpredictable on-air behavior, which included jokingly calling attention to state borders missing from the weather map, and predicting hail stones "the size of canned hams". (Because this upset his bosses, to this day he occasionally gives out canned hams on his show.) One night he reportedly upset his bosses when he congratulated a tropical storm for being upgraded to a hurricane. He also hosted a talk show which aired early on Saturday mornings called "Clover Power" in which he interviewed 4-H members about their projects.
Move to Los Angeles
In 1975, encouraged by his then-wife Michelle and several of his fraternity brothers, Letterman moved to Los Angeles, California with hopes of becoming a comedy writer. (Gail Koch. "Letterman Evolved from Struggling Radio Host to Star." Ball State Daily News, 1 February 2002.) He started off by writing material for the sitcom Good Times. He also began performing stand-up comedy at The Comedy Store, a famed Los Angeles comedy club and proving ground for young comics.
Letterman appeared in the summer of 1977 on the short-lived Starland Vocal Band Show. He has since joked about how fortunate he was that nobody would ever see his performance on the program (because of its low ratings).
Letterman had a stint as a cast member on Mary Tyler Moore's variety show Mary, a guest appearance on Mork & Mindy (as a parody of est leader Werner Erhard), and appearances on game shows such as The $20,000 Pyramid, The Gong Show, and The Liar's Club. He also hosted a 1977 pilot for a game show entitled The Riddlers that was never picked up. His dry, sarcastic humor caught the attention of scouts for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, and Letterman was soon a regular guest on the show. Letterman became a favorite of Carson's and was a regular guest host for the show beginning in 1978.
NBC
Morning show
In late June 1980, Letterman was given his own morning comedy show on NBC, The David Letterman Show. It was originally 90 minutes long, but was shortened to 60 minutes in August. (Peter Kerr. "David Letterman's Off-Center Humor Finds a Home." New York Times, 19 February 1984, p. H27) The show was a critical success, winning two Emmy Awards, but was a ratings disappointment and was canceled in October 1980.
Late Night with David Letterman
NBC kept Letterman under contract to try him in a different time slot, after which Late Night with David Letterman debuted in 1982. Letterman's show, which ran weeknights at 12:30 a.m. eastern time, immediately following The Tonight Show, quickly established a reputation as being edgy and unpredictable, and soon developed a cult following (particularly among college students). Letterman's reputation as an acerbic interviewer was borne out of moments such as his verbal sparring matches with Cher and Shirley MacLaine. The show also featured inventive comedy segments and running characters, in a style heavily influenced by the 1950s and 60s programs of Steve Allen.
The show often included quirky, genre-mocking regular features, including "Stupid Pet Tricks," dropping various objects off the roof of a five story building, a recurring Top 10 list, and a facetious letter-answering segment.
Other memorable moments included Letterman once using a bullhorn to interrupt a live interview on The Today Show, announcing that he was the NBC president and not wearing any pants; interrupting Al Roker on the Live at Five local news by walking into their studio which occupied the same building as Letterman's studio; and staging elevator races with commentary by NBC Sports' Bob Costas. In one highly publicized appearance, Andy Kaufman appeared to be slapped and knocked to the ground by professional wrestler Jerry Lawler. (Lawler and Kaufman's friend Bob Zmuda later revealed that the event was staged.)

Letterman remained with NBC for eleven years. Letterman had ironically become a victim of his own success — NBC’s confirming Letterman's high ratings in the 12:30 (EST) time-slot signaled that the network preferred to hold on to Letterman in the 'Late Night' gig.
In 1993 Letterman departed NBC to host his own show opposite Tonight on CBS at eleven-thirty, The Late Show with David Letterman. Three years later, HBO produced a made-for-television movie called The Late Shift, based on a book by New York Times reporter Bill Carter, chronicling the battle between Letterman and Jay Leno for the coveted Tonight Show hosting spot.
Letterman would mock the film for months afterwards, specifically on how the actor playing him, John Michael Higgins, did not resemble him in the least. ("They took a guy who looked nothing like me and with make-up and special camera angles, turned him into a guy who looked nothing like me, with red hair.") Carson later made a few cameo appearances as a guest on Dave's show. Carson's final television appearance came on a Late Show episode taped in Los Angeles, when he made a surprise appearance during a 'Top 10 list' segment. The audience went wild as Letterman stood up and proudly invited Carson to sit at his desk. The overwhelming applause was so protracted that Carson was unable to say anything, and he finally returned backstage as the applause continued. (It was later explained that Carson had laryngitis).
Popularity
The Late Show competes in the same time slot as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. For its first 18 months, The Late Show consistently gained higher ratings than Tonight. But in 1995, ratings dipped and Leno's show has consistently beat Letterman's in the ratings ever since. At one point Leno's lead was as large as two million viewers, but narrowed, as of February 2005, to fewer than a million viewers (5.8 vs. 4.9 million).
Letterman has nonetheless ranked consistently higher than Leno in the annual Harris Poll of Nation's Favorite TV Personality; as of 2004 Letterman ranked second in that poll, behind Oprah Winfrey. Letterman's shows have garnered both critical and industry praise, receiving 67 Emmy Award nominations, winning twelve times in his first twenty years in late night television.

Heart surgery hiatus
On January 14, 2000, a routine check-up revealed that an artery in Letterman's heart was severely constricted. He was rushed to emergency surgery for a quintuple bypass.
During the initial weeks of his recovery, friends of Letterman introduced reruns of the Late Show, including Drew Barrymore, Ray Romano, Robin Williams, Megan Mullally, Bill Murray, Regis Philbin, Charles Grodin, Nathan Lane, Julia Roberts, Bruce Willis, Jerry Seinfeld, Martin Short, Danny DeVito, Steve Martin, Sarah Jessica Parker.
Subsequently, while still recovering from surgery, Letterman revived the late night tradition that had virtually disappeared on network television during the 1990s of 'guest hosts' by allowing Bill Cosby, Kathie Lee Gifford (recommended by Regis, who was asked first but had no time in his schedule), Dana Carvey, Janeane Garofalo, and others to host new episodes of The Late Show. Cosby, the show's first guest host, refused to sit at Letterman's desk out of respect, using the couch instead; Garofalo followed suit, utilizing a set of grade-school desks instead.
Upon his return to the show on February 21, 2000, a visibly thinner and weakened Letterman brought all of the doctors and nurses on stage who had participated in his surgery and recovery (with extra teasing of a nurse who had given him bed baths—"This woman has seen me naked!"), including Dr. O. Wayne Isom and physician Louis J. Aronne, who frequently appears on the show. In an unusual show of emotion, Letterman was nearly in tears as he thanked the health care team with the words "These are the people who saved my life!" The episode earned an Emmy nomination. For a number of episodes, Letterman continued to crack jokes about his bypass, including saying " 'Bypass surgery - it's when doctors create new blood flow to your heart. A bypass is what happened to me when I didn't get The Tonight Show! It's a whole different thing.'." In a later running gag he lobbied his home state of Indiana to rename the freeway circling Indianapolis (I-465) "The David Letterman Bypass." He also featured a montage of faux news coverage of his bypass surgery, which included a clip of Dave's heart for sale on the Home Shopping Network.
Additionally, Letterman invited the band Foo Fighters to play "Everlong," introducing them as "my favorite band, playing my favorite song." During a later Foo Fighters appearance, Letterman said that the Foo Fighters had been in the middle of a South American tour which they cancelled to come play on his comeback episode.
Letterman again handed over the reins of the show to several guest hosts (including Bill Cosby, Brad Garrett, Elvis Costello, John McEnroe, Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell, Bonnie Hunt, Luke Wilson and bandleader Paul Shaffer) in February 2003, when he was diagnosed with a severe case of shingles. Later that year, Letterman made regular use of guest hosts, including Tom Arnold and Kelsey Grammer, for new shows broadcast on Fridays. In March 2007, Adam Sandler, who had been scheduled to be the lead guest, served as a guest host while Letterman was ill with a stomach virus.
Contract renewed
In March 2002, as Letterman's contract with CBS neared expiration, ABC expressed the intention to offer Letterman the time slot for long-running news program Nightline with Ted Koppel, citing more desirable viewer demographics. This caused a minor flap that ended when Letterman re-signed with CBS. Letterman addressed his decision to re-sign on the air, stating that he was content at CBS and that he had great respect for Koppel.
On December 4, 2006, CBS revealed that David Letterman signed a new contract to host The Late Show with David Letterman through the fall of 2010.
"I'm thrilled to be continuing on at CBS," said Letterman. "At my age you really don't want to have to learn a new commute." Letterman further joked about the subject by pulling up his right pants leg, revealing a tattoo, presumably temporary, of the ABC logo.
Letterman, who marked his fourteenth anniversary as host of the Late Show on August 30, 2007, celebrated 25 years in late-night television on February 1, 2007.
"Thirteen years ago, David Letterman put CBS late night on the map and in the process became one of the defining icons of our network," said Leslie Moonves, president and CEO of CBS Corporation. "His presence on our air is an ongoing source of pride, and the creativity and imagination that the Late Show puts forth every night is an ongoing display of the highest quality entertainment. We are truly honored that one of the most revered and talented entertainers of our time will continue to call CBS 'home.' "
According to Forbes magazine, Letterman earns $40 million a year. Only sixteen entertainers earn more. Leno, with higher ratings, is #23 with $32 million, but Letterman owns a piece of his show. Letterman's "WorldWide Pants" also produced hits such as Everybody Loves Raymond.
2007/2008 Writer's Strike
The Late Show went off air for 8 weeks during the months of November and December due to the Writer's Guild of America strike. David Letterman's production company World Wide Pants was the first company to make an individual agreement with WGA, thus allowing his show to come back on air on January 2, 2008. On his first episode since being off air, he surprised the viewing audience with his newly grown beard. His beard was shaved off during the show on January 7, 2008.
Personal life
In 1969, Letterman married Michelle Cook; the marriage ended by divorce in 1977. He also had a long-term relationship with former head writer and producer on Late Night, Merrill Markoe. Letterman has a son, Harry Joseph, (born November 3, 2003) with longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko. Harry is the namesake of Letterman's father, Harry Joe Letterman, who died at age 57 . The family resides in North Salem, New York.
Political Views
On October 27, 2006, Letterman had Bill O'Reilly as a guest in what became a widely-commented-on and contentious interview. Letterman was asked by O'Reilly, "Do you want the United States to win in Iraq? It's an easy question", to which Letterman sardonically replied, "It's not easy for me because I'm thoughtful".
In a high-profile interview with Presidential candidate Barack Obama on April 11, 2007, Letterman said, referring to the Iraq war, "It's horrible, it's just horrible, the whole thing is just a horrible mess...but what happens when we leave and we still have a horrible mess? And then we find that there is trouble from other countries, do we then just go back into other countries?" In the same segment, Letterman said, "Whether you believe we should have gone in there [Iraq] or not, it's still our mess, our war, and we need to do something.."
On April 2, 2008, presidential candidate John McCain was on the Late Show. Letterman asked, "Now, we know that maybe that [Iraq war] wasn't the proper course. What the hell are we left with? You say we're going to have troops there for a long, long time..."
Academy Awards hosting
In early 1995, it was announced Letterman would host that year's 67th Academy Awards ceremony on March 27. Critics blasted Letterman for what they deemed a poor hosting of the Oscars, noting that his irreverent style undermined the importance and glamor of the event. In a joke about their unusual names, he started off by introducing Uma Thurman to Oprah Winfrey, and then the both of them to Keanu Reeves: "Uma...Oprah! Oprah...Uma! Oprah, Uma...Keanu!" This and many of his other jokes fell flat. Although Letterman attracted the highest ratings to the annual telecast since 1983, many felt that the bad publicity garnered by Letterman's hosting caused a decline in the Late Show's ratings.
Letterman recycled the apparent debacle into a long-running gag. On his first show after the Oscars, he joked, "Looking back, I had no idea that thing was being televised." For years afterwards, Letterman recounted his horrible hosting at the Oscars, although the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences still holds Letterman in high regard and has repeatedly asked Letterman to host the Oscars again.
Letterman and Carson
In early 2005, it was revealed that retired King of Late Night Johnny Carson still kept up with current events and late-night TV right up to his death that year, and that he occasionally sent jokes to Letterman, who used these jokes in his monologue; according to CBS senior vice president Peter Lassally (a onetime producer for both men), Carson got "a big kick out of it." Letterman would do a characteristic Johnny Carson golf swing after delivering one of Carson's jokes. In a tribute to Carson, all of the opening monologue jokes during the first show following Carson's death were written by Carson.
Lassally also claimed that Carson had always believed Letterman, not Leno, to be his "rightful successor." Letterman also frequently employs some of Carson's trademark bits on his show, including "Carnac the Magnificent" (with Paul Shaffer as Carnac), "Stump the Band" and the "Week in Review."
Letterman and Conan O'Brien
After Letterman left Late Night on NBC, his hosting duties were passed to Conan O'Brien. During O'Brien's first rocky year as host of Late Night, Letterman was very supportive, making an amicable appearance as one of O'Brien's first guests and later filling O'Brien's audience with the stand-by audience from his own show. Letterman also invited O'Brien as a guest on the Late Show with David Letterman. In 1996, when O'Brien celebrated his third year on the air, Letterman showed up again in a bit involving a "stray" hairpiece that once belonged to him. Years later, when NBC announced that O'Brien would take over The Tonight Show, Letterman congratulated O'Brien.
Letterman and Oprah
On September 10, 2007, Letterman made his first appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show at Madison Square Garden in New York. He shared pictures of his son and live-in girlfriend. The so called "feud" between Letterman and Winfrey ended in 2005 when Winfrey appeared on CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman on December 2." Oprah had previously appeared on Letterman's show when he was hosting NBC's Late Night on May 2, 1989.
Stalker
Beginning in May 1988, Letterman was stalked by Margaret Mary Ray, a woman suffering from schizophrenia. Letterman occasionally referenced her in his show, although not by name.
Appearances in other media
David Letterman officially appeared in issue 239 of the Marvel comic book The Avengers, in which the title characters are guests on Late Night. This issue is often quoted as an example of how a Floating timeline works in fiction.
A parody of David Letterman, called "David Endocrine", is gassed to death along with his audience and bandleader named "Paul" by the Joker in Frank Miller's seminal re-invention of the Batman, The Dark Knight Returns. Provided vocals for the Warren Zevon song "Hit Somebody"
Other projects
Worldwide Pants
Letterman started his own production company, Worldwide Pants Incorporated, which produces his show and several others, including Everybody Loves Raymond, The Late Late Show, and several critically acclaimed, but short-lived television series for Bonnie Hunt. Worldwide Pants also produced the dramedy program Ed, starring Tom Cavanagh, which aired on NBC from 2000–2004. It was Letterman's first association with NBC since he left the network in 1993. During Ed's run, Cavanagh appeared as a guest on The Late Show several times.
In 2005, Worldwide Pants produced its first feature film, Strangers with Candy, which was a prequel to the Comedy Central TV series, Strangers with Candy. In 2007, Worldwide Pants produced the ABC comedy series, The Knights Of Prosperity.
Worldwide Pants made significant news in December 2007 when it was announced that Letterman's company had independently negotiated its own contract with the Writers Guild of America, East, thus allowing Letterman, Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson, and their writers to return to work, while the union continued its strike against production companies, networks and studios who had not reached an agreement.
Letterman also played as a Mötley Crüe roadie a.k.a Butt-head's father in the 1996 film, Beavis and Butt-head Do America.
He also had a cameo in the feature film Cabin Boy, with Chris Elliot, who has been a guest on Late Night several times. In this and other appearances, Letterman is listed in the credits as Earl Hofert, the name of Letterman's maternal grandfather.
Rahal Letterman Racing
Rahal Letterman Racing (RLR) is an auto racing team that currently races in the Indy Racing League. It is co-owned by 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Rahal and Letterman himself, and is based in Hilliard, Ohio. The team won the 2004 Indianapolis 500 with driver Buddy Rice.
David Letterman Communication and Media Building David Letterman Communication and Media BuildingOn September 7, 2007, Letterman visited his alma mater, Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, for the dedication of a communications facility named in his honor. The $21 million, 75,000-square-foot David Letterman Communication and Media Building opened for the 2007 Fall semester. It features state-of-the-art recording equipment and facilities. Thousands of Ball State students, faculty, and local residents welcomed Letterman back to Indiana. Letterman's emotional speech touched on his struggles as a college student and his late father, and also included the "top ten good things about having your name on a building."
Letterman received the honor for his dedication to the university throughout his career as a comedian. Letterman finished with, "If reasonable people can put my name on a $21 million building, anything is possible."
Letterman also received a Sagamore of the Wabash from Governor Mitch Daniels. Letterman joked that it would mean so much more had the governor actually been there to present it.

Danny Bhoy
Danny Bhoy
Nationality: Scottish Years active: 1998–present
Danny Bhoy (born 1976) is an Indian-Scottish comedian who has found success in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Biography
Early life
Danny (real name Danni Chaudhry) grew up in Moffat, Scotland, one of three children, attended all-boys public school Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh.
His humour is observational, often involving his own personal experiences as an international comedian. While he does mention his Indian heritage during his material, it is often a quick reference and never the focus of the show. Although he is thinking of introducing Indian comedy.
Danny Bhoy
Career
He began stand up in 1998 after going to see his first comedy show at the Edinburgh Festival. A year later, he won The Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award, Britain's biggest competition for comedy newcomers. In 2001, Danny took his first full length solo show to the Edinburgh Festival, where, within a week, he had sold out his entire three-week run, and was forced to add extra shows to cope with demand for tickets.
The following year Danny returned to Edinburgh with a new show. Ultimately a room three times the size was not enough, with more extra shows added at the end of the festival. By the spring of 2003, Danny's comedy started to take a different direction. That year he also entered the Australian comedy market, with his first solo show at the invitation-only Melbourne Comedy Festival. The success of his live work led to various TV appearances on high-profile national Australian TV shows such as Rove Live, The Glasshouse, and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala. In November of that year, Danny was invited to perform on the Royal Variety Show.
In 2005, Danny was invited to take part in the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, where the Montreal Gazette described him as 'the stand out hit of the festival.' In November, Danny was invited to take part in the inaugural Las Vegas Comedy Festival alongside some of the biggest names in comedy including Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock.

The following year Danny returned to Edinburgh with a new show which attracted more and more fans, bowled over by his "razor-sharp mind, and quick-witted one liners." Over the next few years, Danny eschewed the regular comedy club scene in favour of full length shows, which seemed the natural progression for a comic who began to display an innate talent for story-telling on stage.
Since 2003, Danny has made annual appearances at all the major comedy festivals around the world. His first solo show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival was described as a "stunning debut by one of the finest observational comics around." The success of his live work led to various TV appearances on high- profile national Australian TV shows such as Rove Live, The Glasshouse, and several Melbourne International Comedy Festival Galas. Since 2003, Danny has regularly been the top-selling box office comedian in his home town of Edinburgh, but in just a few years he has also broken ticket records at festivals in Australia and New Zealand. His 2005 show about his travels around Australia was described as "effortlessly funny" by one critic, and "the stand up equivalent of Bill Bryson" by another.

In 2005, Danny was invited to take part in the prestigious Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, where he received rave reviews for his barnstorming set on the televised Gala, leading the Montreal Gazette to describe him as "the stand out hit of the festival" and was nominated for a Gemini Award for Best Individual Comedy Performance that year. In November 2005, Danny was also invited to take part in the inaugural Las Vegas Comedy Festival alongside some of the biggest names in comedy including Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock.

2007 saw Danny embark on his first massive tour of Australia, which included 94 dates across all the major regional towns and cities, and ended with a triumphant series of shows at the Sydney Opera House where he filmed his first DVD, Danny Bhoy: Live at the Sydney Opera House. "[The DVD] will have you rolling around on the couch for a good couple of hours... utterly charming and laugh out loud funny." Courier Mail, Brisbane. He then went on to his 3rd sell-out tour of New Zealand, and became the first stand-up comedian ever to do a run of English-speaking shows in India.
Danny also returned to Montreal in 2007 for the rare accolade of performing a 10-night solo run at the Gesu Theatre which was completely sold out, and received further rave reviews including this from the Montreal Gazette. "He had the crowd on side from the beginning and never let go. No surprise he got a standing O." The show attracted major interest from all the major American TV networks, and has nicely positioned Danny for a break into the North American market in the near future. In the meantime, Danny continues to fulfil his commitment to the live performances he loves so much, with a major tour of the UK planned for June 2008, which will see him return to the Edinburgh Festival in August for what will be his 8th solo show.
The Herald, UK
"Scotland's Danny Bhoy is impressive. His simple observations are delivered with hilarious punchlines and he creates a remarkable intimacy with his audience. A must-see." The Age, Australia
"his routines have the mark of those which are quoted from, for years to come."

Dan Aykroyd
Biography
Early life
Aykroyd was born on Dominion Day (1st of July) at the Ottawa General Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He grew up in the Canadian capital where his father, Samuel Cuthbert Peter Hugh Aykroyd, a civil engineer, worked as a policy adviser to Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. His mother, Lorraine (née Gougeon), is a secretary of French Canadian origin, and his brother, Peter, also became a comedy actor. Aykroyd was born with syndactyly (webbed toes), which was revealed in the movie Mr. Mike's Mondo Video and in a short film on Saturday Night Live (Don't Look Back In Anger). He was also born with heterochromia (a condition of having two differently colored eyes). His right eye is green and his left eye is brown.
Dan Aykroyd was raised in the Roman Catholic Church and had intended to become a priest until the age of seventeen. He attended Lisgar Collegiate Institute, St Pius X and St Patrick's, where he was briefly expelled from the latter: he dressed up a pig to look like the pope and brought it to school for show and tell. He went on to study criminology and sociology at Carleton University but dropped out before completing. He worked as a comedian in various Canadian nightclubs and ran an after-hours speakeasy (Club 505) in Toronto for several years. Aykroyd went on to gain experience in The Second City comedy troupe and in the National Lampoon stage shows. While working with Second City, Aykroyd moonlighted as the announcer for Citytv in Toronto.
Dan Aykroyd
Saturday Night Live
Dan Aykroyd gained fame on the American late-night comedy show Saturday Night Live, where he was a writer and cast member for its first four seasons, from 1975 to 1979. Aykroyd brought a unique sensibility to the show, combining youth, unusual interests, talent as an impersonator and an almost lunatic intensity. Eric Idle, of Monty Python, once said that Aykroyd's ability to write and act out characters flawlessly made him the only member of the SNL cast capable of having been a Python.
Dan Akroyd was known for his impersonations of celebrities like Jimmy Carter (talking a talk-show caller down from a bad acid trip), Richard Nixon, Tom Snyder, and others. He was also known for his recurring roles, such as Beldar, father in the Coneheads family; with Steve Martin, Georg Festrunk, one of the "Two Wild and Crazy Guys" Czech brothers; sleazy late-night cable TV host E. Buzz Miller and his cousin, corrupt maker of children's toys and costumes Irwin Mainway (who extolled the virtues and defended the safety of the "Bag-o-Glass" toy, perhaps the retail leader of the "Bag-o" series of toys); Fred Garvin – male prostitute; and high-bred but low-brow critic Leonard Pinth-Garnell. He also co-hosted the Weekend Update segment for a season with Jane Curtin, coining the famous catchphrase "Jane, you ignorant slut" during point-counterpoint segments.
Dan Aykroyd's talent was recognized by others in the highly competitive SNL environment: when he first presented his famous "Super Bass-O-Matic '76" sketch, a fake commercial in which a garish, hyper pitchman (modeled after Ron Popeil) touts a food blender that turns an entire bass into liquid pulp, "to [other writers and cast members] the 'Bass-O-Matic' was so exhilaratingly strange that many remember sitting and listening, open-mouthed ... Nobody felt jealous of it because they couldn't imagine writing anything remotely like it." [Hill and Weingrad p. 143]
While Dan Aykroyd was a close friend and partner with fellow cast member John Belushi and shared some of the same sensibilities, Aykroyd was more reserved and less self-destructive. In 1977, he received an Emmy Award for writing on Saturday Night Live; he later received two more nominations for writing, and one each for acting and Outstanding Comedy-Variety series.
In later decades, Dan Aykroyd made occasional guest appearances and unannounced cameos on Saturday Night Live, often impersonating the American politician Bob Dole. He would also bring back past characters including Irwin Mainway and Leonard Pinth-Garnell. During a couple of his guest appearances he resurrected the Blues Brothers musical act with frequent host John Goodman in place of John Belushi. Finally in May 2003, he hosted the season finale of Saturday Night Live. During his monologue, he did a musical bit with Jim Belushi that was similar to the Blues Brothers, but neither Dan Aykroyd nor Belushi donned the famous black suit and sunglasses. It was a unique hosting choice as he was not promoting a project at the time and he did not bring back any characters for this appearance. He became the second member of the original cast to host the show. On March 24, 2007 he made his most recent cameo appearance as a crying fan of Andy Samberg portraying American Idol finalist Sanjaya Malakar during Weekend Update.

The Blues Brothers
Dan Aykroyd was good friends with John Belushi, who recruited him for Saturday Night Live. According to Aykroyd, it was his first meeting with Belushi that helped spark their popular Blues Brothers act. When they met in a speakeasy Aykroyd frequented, Aykroyd put on a blues record to play in the background, and it stimulated a fascination with Blues in Belushi, who was primarily a fan of heavy metal. Dan Aykroyd educated John on the finer points of blues music and, with a little encouragement from then-SNL music director Paul Shaffer, it led to the creation of their Blues Brothers characters.
The Blues Brothers was a legitimate musical act, releasing the hit album Briefcase Full of Blues, in 1978, and performing live gigs. The Blues Brothers continue to tour today, featuring original members Lou Marini, Steve Cropper, Alan Rubin and Donald "Duck" Dunn, along with vocalist Eddie Floyd.
Cherokee Studios was a regular haunt for the original Blues Brothers back in the early days of the band. John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd became fixtures at the recording studio, while fellow Blues Brother and legendary guitar player Steve Cropper called Cherokee his producing home. Whenever they needed a bass player, they were joined by another Blues Brother, Donald "Duck" Dunn. During this time, Cropper along with producing partner and Cherokee owner Bruce Robb (producer) worked on a number of music projects with the two comedian/musicians, including Belushi's favorite band Fear and later Dan Aykroyd's movie "Dragnet."
Dan Aykroyd and Belushi were scheduled to present the Academy Award for Visual Effects in 1982, but Belushi died only a few weeks prior to the ceremony. Though devastated by his friend's death, Aykroyd presented the award alone, remarking from the stage "My partner would have loved to have been here to present this, given that he was something of a visual effect himself." Not a few years before, when he and John Belushi were making an appearance on the "Today" show, he referred to them as "kindred spirits." In the biography "Belushi", Dan Aykroyd claims that John Belushi was the only man he could ever dance with.
In 1992, Dan Aykroyd, along with many other notable music and Hollywood personalities, founded the House of Blues. Its mission is to promote African-American cultural contributions of blues music and folk art. From 2004 until its sale to Live Nation in 2007, it was the second-largest live music promoter in the world, with seven venues and 22 amphitheaters in the United States and Canada. Dan Aykroyd also contributes his voice to the weekly House of Blues Radio Hour, which he hosts in the character of Elwood Blues.
Dan Akroyd
Other work Concurrent with his work in Saturday Night Live, Dan Aykroyd played the role of Purvis Bickle, lift operator at the fictitious office block 99 Sumach Street in the CBC Television series Coming Up Rosie.
After leaving Saturday Night Live, Aykroyd starred in a number of mainly comedy films, with uneven results both commercially and artistically. When starting out in the film industry Dan Aykroyd would star with his old friend Belushi in three films, The Blues Brothers, Neighbors and 1941. One of his best-received performances was as a blueblood-turned-wretch in the 1983 comic drama Trading Places; a notable flop was in the earlier 1941 (director Steven Spielberg received the brunt of the criticism, but Dan Akyroyd's performance as an Army Sergeant was either played straight or completely manic).
Dan Aykroyd originally wrote the role of Dr. Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters (1984) with John Belushi in mind, but rewrote the part for another famous SNL player, Bill Murray, after Belushi died. Dan Aykroyd used to joke that the green ghoul (who would later come to be known as "Slimer" in the animated series and was credited as such in the second film) was "the ghost of John Belushi", based on the similar party animal personality. Ghostbusters became a huge success for Dan Aykroyd as a co-creator, co-writer, and one of the lead actors; the film's inspiration came from Aykroyd's fascination with parapsychology.
Aykroyd participated in the recording of We are the World in 1985.
Aykroyd's acting career reached its peak when he received an Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actor for 1989's Driving Miss Daisy.
Dan Aykroyd
Other work continued
His directorial debut was 1991's Nothing But Trouble. It starred Demi Moore, Chevy Chase, John Candy and Aykroyd himself, sporting an oddly phallic prosthetic nose. The film was a critical and box office flop. Other efforts in the 1990s, including Exit To Eden, Blues Brothers 2000, and Getting Away with Murder, were also poorly received. He also made an uncredited appearance in the Michael Moore film, Canadian Bacon as a motorcycle cop.
In 1997, Aykroyd starred in a short-lived sitcom on ABC called Soul Man. The show lasted one season. In the 2000s, Aykroyd's film appearances have tended to be small character parts in big-budget productions, such as a signals analyst in Pearl Harbor and a neurologist in 50 First Dates. In 2001 Aykroyd starred in the Woody Allen film, The Curse of the Jade Scorpion.
In February 2007 Aykroyd revealed that he would be providing voice-acting for a Ghostbusters III CGI project, although he stated that that would not happen until next year.[6] He is also, along with Harold Ramis, writing, and appearing in the upcoming Ghostbusters video game, which will also feature Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, William Atherton, and Brian Doyle-Murray.
It was John Belushi, who discovered the band Fear and brought them to Cherokee Studios to record songs for the soundtrack of a major motion picture he and Dan Aykroyd were starring in called, "Neighbors." Music producing partners Steve Cropper and Bruce Robb (producer) remember recording the memorable band's music, but nobody knows exactly what happened with the final soundtrack which was ultimately replaced in the film by very traditional movie score.
On the 2008 release of fellow Ottawa born blues musician, JW-Jones' album Bluelisted, Aykroyd wrote the liner notes.

Family and honors
For a time, Aykroyd was engaged to Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher (who hosted the Saturday Night Live episode in which Aykroyd and Belushi gave their first polished performance as the Blues Brothers, and had a role in the Blues Brothers film). He has been inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame and maintains his Canadian roots as a longtime resident of Sydenham, Ontario, with his estate on Loughborough Lake. In 1994 Aykroyd received an honorary Doctor of Literature degree from Carleton University. In 1998, he was made a Member of the Order of Canada.
Aykroyd also received a dubious honor in 1997, when the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal "awarded" him the Snuffed Candle award, for "contributing to the public's lack of understanding of the methods of scientific inquiry." CSICOP did this in response to Aykroyd's program Psi Factor.
Aykroyd is a Naturalized citizen of the United States. In 1983, he married actress Donna Dixon, with whom he starred in the movies Spies Like Us, Doctor Detroit, and The Couch Trip. They have three daughters: Danielle (born 1989), Belle Kingston (born June,1993), and Stella Irene August (born April 5, 1998).
Aykroyd described himself (in a radio interview with Terry Gross) as having mild Tourette syndrome that was successfully treated with therapy when he was a preteen, as well as mild Asperger syndrome. The diagnosis of Asperger syndrome did not exist in the 1960s, when Aykroyd was a preteen. It is unclear if Aykroyd received the diagnoses of TS or AS from a medical source, whether he was speaking in his role as a comic, or whether the diagnoses were self-made. It was an audio interview, so the audience could not see Aykroyd's facial expressions, but the interviewer indicated uncertainty about whether Aykroyd was kidding.
As of 2006, Aykroyd has entered a partnership with Niagara Cellars, which owns four wineries in the Niagara region. They will be marketing a series of red and white wines under his name. He is also considering a beer and vodka label with the Coneheads name.
Aykroyd is a lifetime member of and official Hollywood consultant for the Mutual UFO Network. He is also a Reserve Commander for the Police Department in Harahan, Louisiana, working for Chief of Police Peter Dale. Aykroyd carries his badge with him at all times. In 2005, Aykroyd produced a DVD titled, "Dan Aykroyd: Unplugged on UFOs". In it he is interviewed for 80-minutes by UFOlogist David Sereda where he discusses in depth every aspect of the UFO phonemenon, and reveals specifically that they are blue, not green, but appear that way because of a filter.
Mr. Swackhammer, the antagonist of the movie Space Jam, mistakes Bill Murray for Aykroyd at his appearance at the basketball game, commenting "I didn't know Dan Aykroyd was in this picture". In the episode of The Simpsons in which Homer's mother returns, she comments on how handsome he's become, to which Homer replies, "Some people say I look like Dan Aykroyd".
Dan Akroyd
Depictions of Aykroyd in television and film
Aykroyd was played by Gary Groomes in the 1989 film version of Bob Woodward's book Wired: The Short Life and Fast Times of John Belushi. The film was boycotted by Aykroyd, as well as by Judith Belushi Pisano and Jim Belushi. Aykroyd was played by Dan Di Julio in the 2002 TV movie Gilda Radner: It's Always Something.

Nationality: Scottish American
Genres: Observational comedy
Subject(s): everyday life, pop culture
Craig (born May 17, 1962) is a Scottish-American television host, stand-up comedian, writer, director and actor. He is the current host of CBS's The Late Late Show, a role which earned him an Emmy nomination in 2006.
Craig Ferguson played the office boss Nigel Wick on The Drew Carey Show from 1996 to 2003 and is the author of the 2006 novel Between the Bridge and the River.

Craig Ferguson
UK career
Ferguson was born in Glasgow, Scotland. His experience in entertainment began as a drummer in a punk band called "The Bastards from Hell." The band, later known as "Dreamboys," performed regularly in Glasgow from 1980 to 1982.
Craig Ferguson got his start as a comedian in the United Kingdom, appearing on the alternative comedy circuit under the stage-name "Bing Hitler". A recording of his stage act as Bing Hitler was made at Glasgow's Tron Theatre and released in the 1980s. In addition, a Bing Hitler monologue ("A Lecture for Burns Night") appears on the compilation cassette Honey at the Core.
Craig Ferguson toured the UK during the late '80s under his own name as a support act to Harry Enfield.
In 1993, Ferguson presented his own series on Scottish archaeology for Scottish Television entitled Dirt Detective. He travelled throughout the country examining archaeological history, including Skara Brae and Paisley Abbey.
Craig Ferguson
After enjoying success at the Edinburgh Festival, Ferguson broke into television with appearances on Red Dwarf, STV's Hogmanay Show, his own show 2000 Not Out, and the 1993 One Foot in the Grave Christmas special One Foot in the Algarve.
In 1994 Craig played "Father Maclean" in the highly controversial production of Bad Boy Johnny and the Prophets of Doom at The Union Chapel in London. After a spate of death threats the production was closed down after just ten performances.
Craig Ferguson
US career
After his show The Ferguson Theory, Ferguson moved to Los Angeles in 1994. His first U.S. role was as baker Logan McDonough on the short-lived 1995 ABC comedy Maybe This Time, which starred Betty White and Marie Osmond.
Craig Ferguson
His breakthrough in the U.S. came when he was cast as the title character's boss, Mr. Wick, on The Drew Carey Show; he played that role from 1996 to 2003. He played the role with an over-the-top posh English accent "to make up for generations of English actors doing crap Scottish accents".
Craig Ferguson
During this time he also wrote and starred in three films: The Big Tease, Saving Grace, and I'll Be There, which he also directed and for which he won the Audience Award for Best Film at the Aspen, Dallas and Valencia film festivals. He was named Best New Director at the Napa Valley Film Festival. His other acting credits in films include Niagara Motel, Lenny the Wonder Dog, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, Chain of Fools, and Born Romantic.

Craig Ferguson
The Late Late Show
In December 2004, it was announced that Ferguson would be the successor to Craig Kilborn on CBS's The Late Late Show. His first show as the regular host aired on January 3, 2005. By May 2008, Ben Alba, an American television historian and an authority on U.S. talk shows, said Ferguson "has already made his mark, taking the TV monologue to new levels with an underlying story. But he is only just starting ...He is making up his own rules: It's the immigrant experience."
Craig Ferguson
The Late Late Show averaged 2.0 million viewers in its 2007 season, compared with 2.5 million for Late Night with Conan O'Brien. In April 2008, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson beat Late Night with Conan O'Brien for weekly ratings (1.88 million to 1.77 million) for the first time since the two shows went head-to-head with their respective hosts.
Craig Ferguson
His success on the show has led at least one "television insider" to say he's the heir apparent to take over David Letterman's role as host of The Late Show. One of Ferguson's writers on the show, Philip McGrade, said that Americans had warmed to his confessional style; commenting on Ferguson's greater success in the US, McGrade said that Americans were more receptive to working-class comics than were British audiences.
Craig Ferguson
Other projects
Ferguson is the writer/co-writer and actor of movies including The Big Tease, Saving Grace, and I'll Be There, which he also directed. He played the person who cannot be described as either gender in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
Ferguson hosted the 32nd annual People's Choice Awards on January 10, 2006. TV Guide magazine printed a "Cheers" (Cheers and Jeers section) for appearing on his own show that same evening.
Ferguson's novel Between the Bridge and the River (ISBN 0-8118-5375-6) was published on 10 April 2006. Ferguson appeared at the Los Angeles Festival of Books, as well as other author literary events. "This book could scare them", Ferguson said. "The sex, the violence, the dream sequences and the iconoclasm. I think a lot of people are uncomfortable with that. I understand that. It was very uncomfortable to write some of it." Publishers Weekly called it "a tour de force of cynical humor and poignant reverie, a caustic yet ebullient picaresque that approaches the sacred by way of the profane."
Ferguson played Ted Truman in the indie film Trust Me. In the Red Dwarf episode "Confidence and Paranoia", he played "Confidence," a character who personified the concept.
In 2007 and 2008, Ferguson hosted the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on July 4, broadcast nationally by CBS.
In 1994 he played Father Maclean in the London production of Bad Boy Johnny and the Prophets of Doom by Daniel Abineri.
He continues to make standup appearances in Las Vegas and New York City even while his show continues. He headlined in the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal, along with Howie Mandel and others.
Ferguson was the featured entertainer at the April 26, 2008 White House Correspondents' Association dinner in Washington, DC where he delivered the line "shut the hell up New York Times, you sanctimonious, whining jerks."
Ferguson has signed a deal with HarperCollins to publish his memoirs in fall 2009. The book, tentatively titled American on Purpose, will focus on "how and why [he] became an American" and cover his years as a punk rocker, a dancer, a bouncer and a construction worker.
Personal life
Ferguson was born in Glasgow, Scotland, to Robert and Janet Ferguson, and raised in nearby Cumbernauld.
His first visit to the United States was to visit an uncle who lived on Long Island, near New York City, as a teenager; later, he lived in New York City, where he worked in construction in Harlem (when Samuel L. Jackson was a guest on his show, Craig joked that he "had to sprint through Harlem to the subway," to which Jackson responded that white people "are very welcome in Harlem!"), and according to Ferguson "used to be a bouncer at a cool club in New York called Save the Robots. That was the name of the club. I was the bouncer the first couple of weeks. I got fired. I was power crazed. I was acting like a gatekeeper from the Lord of the Rings."
Ferguson has two sisters (one older and one younger) and one older brother. His sister, Lynn Ferguson, is a successful comedian, presenter and actress, perhaps most widely known as the voice of Mac in Chicken Run. His brother, Scott, worked for STV, and is married to actress Teri Lally. His elder sister, Janice, is a successful businesswoman and fellowship member of IOSH.
Ferguson has married and divorced twice. From his second marriage he has one son, Milo, born in 2001. Between the Bridge and the River is dedicated to his son, along with his great-grandfather, Adam. He has been seen with Megan Wallace-Cunningham, an art dealer, since 2005 and has confirmed that she is his girlfriend.
A recovering alcoholic, Ferguson has been sober since February 18, 1992. He said he had considered committing suicide on Christmas Day 1991, but when offered a drink for celebrating the holiday, he forgot to jump off the Tower Bridge in London as he had planned.
As mentioned on The Late Late Show on March 26, 2008, Ferguson holds an FAA student pilot certificate issued November 9, 2007.
Citizenship
During 2007, Ferguson used The Late Late Show as a forum for getting an honorary citizenship from every state in America. He received honorary citizenship from Nebraska, Arkansas, Virginia, Montana, North Dakota, Tennessee, South Carolina, South Dakota, Nevada, Alaska, Texas, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. Governors John Hoeven, Mark Sanford, Mike Rounds, Rick Perry, Sarah Palin, and Jim Gibbons sent letters to him that made him an honorary citizen of their states.
He received similar honors from various towns and cities, including Ozark, Arkansas, Hazard, Kentucky, Greensburg, Pennsylvania as well.
On the Tuesday, January 22, 2008, airing of The Late Late Show, Ferguson announced that he was scheduled to take his citizenship test in Los Angeles on Friday, January 25, 2008. The next Monday he announced that he received a perfect score, with footage of this shown as proof. Aware of the cameras, Ferguson gave tongue-in-cheek answers to some questions: for example, in response to a request to name the writer of The Star-Spangled Banner, he replied "Francis Scott Key... and Puff Daddy".
Ferguson became an American citizen on February 1, 2008. Clips from his citizenship ceremony were aired the following week during Monday night's airing of The Late Late Show on February 4, 2008.
Guest appearances
He has made guest appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Rachael Ray, The Daily Show, The View, Loveline, Real Time with Bill Maher,The Dennis Miller Show and Million Dollar Password with Regis Philbin.

Number of Episodes: 201

Original Run: September 20, 1984 to April 30, 1992
The Cosby Show is an American television sitcom starring Bill Cosby, first airing on September 20, 1984 and running for eight seasons on the NBC television network, until April 30, 1992. The show focused on the Huxtable family, an upper-middle class African-American family living in a brownstone building in Brooklyn, New York.
According to TV Guide, the show "was TV's biggest hit in the 1980s, and almost single-handedly revived the sitcom genre and NBC's ratings fortunes".[1] Originally, the show had been pitched to ABC, which rejected it.[1] Entertainment Weekly stated that The Cosby Show helped to make possible a larger variety of shows based on African Americans, from In Living Color to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.[2] The Cosby Show is one of only two American shows (All in the Family being the other) that have been #1 in the Nielsen Ratings for 5 consecutive seasons. The show spawned the successful spin-off A Different World.
Overview The show focused on the Huxtable family, an upper-middle class family living in a brownstone in Brooklyn Heights, New York, at 10 Stigwood Avenue.[3] The patriarch was the very playful, humorous, and fun-loving Heathcliff "Cliff" Huxtable, an obstetrician. The matriarch was his very eloquent, elegant, and assertive wife, attorney Clair (Hanks) Huxtable. The show involved the usual difficulties of children growing up, such as son Theo's experiences of dealing with dyslexia, which was based on Cosby's real-life child Ennis, who was dyslexic.
Cosby had an unusually great deal of creative control over the show. He wanted the program to be educational, reflecting Cosby's own background in education. He also insisted that the program be taped in New York City rather than Los Angeles, where most television programs were taped.[citation needed]
The series was videotaped at the Kaufman Astoria Studios in the New York City borough of Queens.
Cosby was unusual for a "black" sitcom in that race was never mentioned (compare with "The Jeffersons," in which race was mentioned constantly). Black pride was very much expressed, however. The characters talked about participating in civil rights marches, there was a reproduction of a painting by black artist Jacob Lawrence on the wall, and they played recordings by black artists such as Miles Davis, James Brown and Duke Ellington.

Episodes Pilot The Cosby Show pilot episode uses the same title sequence as the rest of the first season, and is widely regarded as the 'first episode'. However, it is notable for a number of differences from the remainder of the series.
In the pilot, the Huxtables have only four children. Following the pilot, the Huxtables have five children, with the addition of their eldest daughter, Sondra (Sabrina Le Beauf). Sondra was created when Bill Cosby wanted the show to express the accomplishment of successfully raising a child (e.g.- a college graduate). Whitney Houston was considered for the role of Sondra Huxtable. Sabrina LeBeauf almost missed out on the role because she is only 10 years younger (b. 1958) than Phylicia Rashad (b. 1948), who played her mother, Clair Huxtable, on the show.
Bill Cosby's character is called "Clifford" in the pilot (as also evidenced by his name plate on the exterior of the Huxtable home). His name was later switched to "Heathcliff". Additionally, Vanessa refers to Theo as "Teddy" twice in the dining room scene.
The interior of the Huxtables' home features an entirely different living room from subsequent episodes, and different color schemes in the dining room and the master bedroom. Throughout the remainder of the series, the dining room is reserved for more formal occasions.
Opening credits The cast of The Cosby Show in 1989 The show's theme music, "Kiss Me", was composed by Stu Gardner and Bill Cosby. Seven versions of this theme were used during the run of the series, making it one of the few television series to use multiple versions of the same theme song over the course of a series.
Season seven's opening credits were originally those that were ultimately used in season eight. Due to legal complications regarding the background mural, season seven's opening was changed to the previous season's opening. The original season seven opening, with modifications, was used in the eighth and final season.
Ratings The Cosby Show is one of two television shows (All in the Family being the other) that has been #1 in the Nielsen Ratings for 5 consecutive seasons.

In 1999, Entertainment Weekly placed the The Cosby Show's debut at #28 in its list of the "100 Greatest Moments in Television".[4] In 2002, TV Guide placed The Cosby Show at #28 in its list of the 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time.[5]
In 2007, Time magazine placed the show on its unranked list of "100 Best TV Shows of All-TIME".[6]
In 2007, USA Today's web site ranked the show as #8 in its list of the "top 25 TV moments of the past quarter century".[7]
DVD releases Seasons 1 and 2 were released on DVD in Region 1 by UrbanWorks which was subsequently acquired by First Look Studios in early 2006. First Look Studios has since released seasons 3-8 on DVD in Region 1 for the very first time.
Magna Pacific [8] has released seasons one through four of The Cosby Show on DVD in Australia and New Zealand, with similar artwork to the North American copies, although season two is red rather than blue. Each Australasian cover also features the tagline "In a house full of love, there is always room for more."
The Season 1 DVD only contains the edited versions of the episodes aired in syndication. However, all subsequent DVD releases contain the original, uncut broadcast versions.
Spin-off
The Cosby Show's producers created a spin-off series called A Different World that was centered around the "Denise" character (portrayed by actress Lisa Bonet), the second of the Huxtables' four daughters. Initially, the new program dealt with Denise's life at Hillman College, the fictional historically black college from which her father, mother, and paternal grandfather had graduated. Denise was written out of A Different World after its inaugural season, due to Bonet's pregnancy, and the following season was revamped, with the addition of director Debbie Allen and new characters. Denise later became a recurring character on The Cosby Show for Seasons 4-5, and a regular again in Seasons 6-7.

Cory In The House
Cory In The House
******************************
The family from the show "That's So Raven" has moved into the Whitehouse because Victor Baxter the father has been hired to be the President's head chef. Cory and his father are seen most of the time. Raven has visited on occasion. The mother is not seen as far as I know.
Cory Baxter is the son on Chef Victor. He has two new friends who he experiences life with. There is Neena, a beautiful girl from Bahavia who Cory has a crush on and then there is Newt the surfer-type blonde guy who is just a bit absent-minded......I'm being very kind. He is a good kid....a free spirit maybe.
Neena has an accent which is similar to an East Indian. I think she is actually Irish or something like that.
President Menendez is a president that you might compare to Ronald Reagan in likability and with a bit more smarts. He is a very approachable, down-to-earth person. He speaks to all like they were personal friends.
The president has a very young daughter who is very manipulative. She uses her position to get her way in a lot of situations. Chef Victor has been a victim but in the end he prevailed. She was refusing to eat her vegetables because she prefers fries.....mmmmm uh sorry.... By the end of that episode Chef Victor had her eating her vegetables. .......Okay so Chef Victor and Samantha (the president's right hand person) had to dance to distract the daughter.
Cory In The House is about Cory a scheming, money hungry kid who's father becomes the head chef for the President of the United States. He gets his friends involved in his scams and ends up in big trouble. In the end everyone teams up to save the day. I see "moral of the story" written all over that.
Cory in the House is created by Marc Warren and Dennis Rinsler.
The stars are Kyle Massey, Jason Dolley, Maiara Walsh, Madison Pettis, John D'Aquino, and Rondell Sheridan.......That's the way uh huh uh huh I like it......(He did a stand up bit) I'll try to put it on the site.
