That Girl
That Girl
Category: Sitcom
Created By: Sam Denoff and Bill Persky
Stars: Marlo Thomas, Ted Bessell, Lew Parker, Bernie Kopell, Rosemary DeCamp
Number of Seasons: 5
Number of Episodes: 136
Original Channel: ABC
Original Run: September 8, 1966 to September 10, 1971
That Girl is an American television situation comedy that ran on ABC from 1966 to 1971. It starred Marlo Thomas as the title character, Ann Marie, an aspiring (but only sporadically employed) actress, who had moved from her hometown of Brewster, New York to make it big in New York City. Ann had to take a number of offbeat "temp" jobs to support herself in between her various auditions and bit parts, though she nonetheless was able to afford a spacious Manhattan apartment as well as an extensive wardrobe of mod fashions. Ted Bessell played her boyfriend Donald Hollinger, a writer for Newsview Magazine; Lew Parker and Rosemary DeCamp played Lou Marie and Helen Marie, her concerned parents. Bernie Kopell and Ruth Buzzi played Ann & Donald's friends.
Each episode began with a pre-credits teaser in which an odd incident would occur or a discussion would foreshadow the episode's story. The scene would almost always end with someone exclaiming "...that girl!" just as Ann wanders into the shot or the character notices her. The words "That Girl" would appear over the freeze-frame shot of Ann. The opening credits featured Thomas, in character, ambitiously strolling the streets of New York and flying a kite that bore a resemblance to her. In the last season, lyrics were added to the theme song. The presence of Neil Simon's The Star-Spangled Girl with Sheilah Wells listed in the "Sophie Rauschmeyer" role among the Broadway titles shown indicates this version of the opening was filmed between June 5 and August 5 of 1967.

That Girl was the first show to focus on a single woman who was not a domestic or living at home. Some consider this show the forerunner of the highly successful Mary Tyler Moore Show and Murphy Brown. Thomas' goofy charm, together with Bessell's dry wit and the strong chemistry they shared, made the show a strong performer during its five-year run.
In the beginning of the fifth season, Don and Ann became engaged, although they never actually married. The decision to leave the couple engaged at the end of the run of the series was largely the idea of Thomas herself. She didn't want to send a message to young women that marriage was the ultimate goal for them.[1]
That Girl was created by writers Bill Persky and Sam Denoff, who served as head writers on The Dick Van Dyke Show earlier in the 1960s. Scriptwriter Richard Baer wrote ten episodes for the series.
Popular Culture
The show's theme song and opening visuals have been parodied in pop culture several times. They appeared as a series of T-shirts, then as a Saturday Night Live skit featuring an African American remake That Black Girl, as a sequence on episodes of Animaniacs, The Simpsons and Roseanne.
It was also parodied in the precredits teaser of an episode of The Nanny where Maxwell's guest-starring mother encounters Fran at the florist, in another episode of The Nanny where Peter Bergman, playing himself acting in The Young and the Restless casts Fran in the soap by asking for a co-star like "that girl!" while pointing to Fran.
Popular Culture continued
The series Family Guy took their digs in with the "That Guy" sequence in "Mr. Griffin Goes to Washington". In another "male" take on the show's opening, an episode from Ugly Betty had Fabia forcing Wilhelmina Slater into making an exchange: She'll give up her wedding date to Wilhelmina in exchange for the services of Wilhelmina's assistant, Marc St. James, after Fabia evoke those famous opening lines.
Marlo Thomas played Rachel's mother in the series Friends. Phoebe can sometimes be seen wearing a That Girl t-shirt.
Once on Mystery Science Theater 3000, while being forced to watch a B-movie, one of the characters in the audience says of the movie "It's Marlo Thomas in 'That Guy'!" The series would also be used as inspiration several times as riffs during MST3K's ten-year run.

That '70s Show
Ashton Kucher is now making about 40 million an episode on Two and a Half Men. Well that makes him a cheap date. Wait......let me review what I just typed. Oh....... 40 million.........thud!!!!! I just fell of my chair......well actually the edge of my bed. Yeah I wanna make money typing stuff.
Okay back to my shock. Yes I said 40 million an episode. I will verify that again. You can tell me if I got it wrong. That buys a lot. I could buy a few houses every month. I could eat more tacos and burritos and chilli cheese fries.
Well this post is about That 70s Show. I wasn't too surprised that he became a huge star. He married Demi and then messed it up by playing around. He doesn't look sad because he can probably catch a good percentage of the female population in his net.
Punked was childish but sometimes really funny. We did get to see celebrities in their real world and unscripted.
So now read about That 70s Show. I will update the posts instead of having brand new posts. So my real fans will madly click on everything they can on the screen. Sounds like high school. Where did you go to high school. Well there is a story I like to brag about but no names and only if you ask me and ...... naaaa. I'm still friends with the girl. It was just ....... okay if I withhold names ....... I don't want to take a chance that some idiot tells some idiot and I lose my friendship.
Here is the summarized version: I was in science class with a hot girl and we were partners for an experiment. The situation was similar to us both picking up our books at the same time and meeting in the middle. That's all. Well that's all I'm telling.

That '70s Show is an American television sitcom that centers on the lives of a group of teenagers living in the fictional town of Point Place (Green Bay), Wisconsin, from May 17, 1976 to December 31, 1979. It debuted on August 23, 1998 and its final episode aired May 18, 2006. That '70s Show proved to be a launching pad for the film careers of its young stars, mostly unknowns at the time they were hired.
The show remains in syndication around the world. It begins airing on ABC Family in Fall 2008 and on The N in June 2008.
Series overview History That '70s Show is the brainchild of 3rd Rock From the Sun creators Bonnie and Terry Turner and writer Mark Brazill. The working title for the series was Teenage Wasteland; other names considered were The Kids Are Alright, Feelin' All Right, and Reeling in the Years,[2] all of which are names of songs by popular bands of the period.
The series was commissioned by the Fox Network, and the first season premiered on August 23, 1998, with an initial order of 22 episodes (extended to 25 on January 12, 1999).[3] The series did well, rating highly among several target demographics, including adults aged 18-49, as well as teenage viewers.[3] In February 1999, Fox ordered a second season, and as ratings rose the following September, the network opted to renew the series for two more seasons, bringing the total to four.[3] Continuing success saw changing time slots (Sundays to Mondays to Tuesdays to Wednesdays to Thursdays), as well as four additional seasons.
The eighth season was announced to be the final season of the show on January 17, 2006,[4] and the final episode was filmed a month later, on February 17, 2006.[5] "That '70s Finale" originally aired on May 18, 2006.
That '70s Show
Characters
Set in Point Place (a fictional suburb of Green Bay), Wisconsin, That '70s Show depicts the life of teenager Eric Forman (Topher Grace) and his five teenage friends: his girlfriend and next-door neighbor Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon); Steven Hyde (Danny Masterson), a rebellious stoner who was eventually adopted by the Forman family and lives in their basement; Michael Kelso (Ashton Kutcher), a dim-witted narcissistic ladies' man; Jackie Burkhart (Mila Kunis), a self-involved high school cheerleader and daughter of the businessman overly preoccupied with wealth and status; and Fez (Wilmer Valderrama), an exchange student from a country that is never identified.
Relationships among the teens are explored, the primary focus being between Eric and Donna, who are the responsible ones, as evidenced in episodes such as "Dine and Dash." Their relationship sharply contrasts with the on-again, off-again relationship between Kelso and Jackie, who were usually portrayed as mutually obsessed despite their arguments and denials of love to spite one another. In both relationships, the couples have harsh disagreements, but come to terms with their differences. Jackie subsequently moved on to Hyde and later Fez as the series progressed.
Other main characters include Eric's overbearing Korean war veteran father, Red (Kurtwood Smith), his nice, yet overbearing mother Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp), who is struggling to be a caring mom and housewife while working as a nurse in a local hospital, and his older sister Laurie (Lisa Robin Kelly, 1998-2003 and Christina Moore, 2003-2004), whose promiscuity is the brunt of many jokes by the teenagers but does not deter Kelso from making moves on her. The show also depicts the relationship of Midge and Bob Pinciotti (Tanya Roberts and Don Stark), Donna's dim-witted parents, both of whom are easily influenced by the 1970s movements and fads, which places occasional stress on their marriage. Tommy Chong appeared as a frequently recurring character, Leo, the aging hippie owner of the Foto Hut.

That '70s Show
Eighth season changes
Eric Forman and Michael Kelso were written out of the series after the seventh season, as actors Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher were to star in movies to be filmed during that season (Grace in Spider-Man 3 and Kutcher in The Guardian). Longtime character Leo returned with a more prominent role to help fill the gap. A new character named Randy Pearson, played by Josh Meyers, was introduced to take Eric Forman's place. Another new character, Samantha, played by Judy Tylor, was added to the cast as Hyde's wife for nine episodes, but both she and Meyers had their roles minimalized following a negative response from the fans over the season's new characters.
Kelso appears in the first four episodes of the eighth season (with Kutcher credited as a special guest star) before moving to Chicago; both he and Eric returned for the series' final episode. The location of the show's introduction was also changed from Eric's 1969 Vista Cruiser to the "Circle."

That '70s Show
Elements of the show The show gained recognition for providing a bold retrospective of a decade full of political events and technological milestones that have dramatically shaped today's world. The show tackled significant social issues of the times, such as feminism, progressive sexual attitudes (although in some episodes more traditional values would carry the day, such as when Red ended his friendship with a fellow veteran who invited Kitty and him to a key party and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, co-starring as Eric Forman's possible gay love interest, was rebuffed), the economic hardships of recession, mistrust in the American government among blue-collar workers, political figures such as Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter (though both presidents are very rarely referenced throughout the series), teenage drug use, and developments in entertainment technology, from the television remote ("the clicker") to the video game Pong.
The first season of the show focused extensively on current events and cultural trends, with each successive season focusing less and less on the socio-political aspects of the story, to the point that the decade simply became a backdrop against which the storylines unfolded. Likewise, the first season of the show also featured a recurring, non-comedic storyline in which the Forman family was in constant danger of losing their home due to Red's hours being cut back at the auto parts plant where he worked. Recurring storylines in later seasons, even when they carried dramatic elements, were always presented as primarily comedic.
Signature elements of That '70s Show include surreal, sometimes elaborate, dream sequences to depict various characters' vivid imaginations, some of which include references to or parodies of fads and films of the time, such as Star Wars, Rocky, and Grease, and the 360-degree scenes, also known as "The Circle" (seen below). The "circle" is used to illustrate the teens' marijuana use, typically occurring in Eric's basement. All of these segments combine nonsensical dialog with deadpan humor. No actual smoking is depicted in these scenes; smoke is visible only in the background and foreground.
Other stylistic elements include the use of split screens, which tends to involve two characters talking to each other about a given topic, as two other people conversed about the same topic - the viewpoints were disturbingly similar yet contradictory in key ways for optimal comic effect. "Burns" (comic insults) also play a significant part in the series' humor, with a character shouting "Burn!" after another is insulted or humiliated.
The series is something of a homage to the hit 1970s series Happy Days, which itself looked back twenty years to the Wisconsin of the 1950s.
That '70s Show
Timeline The "Circle" was used to illustrate the teens' marijuana use, usually in Eric Forman's basement.
Due to the show's long run, the timeline was noticeably slowed. The show was set in May 1976 upon its August 23, 1998 premiere. After twelve episodes of the first season (as well as episode 23, "Grandma's Dead", due to it being aired out of production order), the series transitioned to 1977, where it remained until late in the third season, when the time setting was 1978 until early in the sixth season. The remaining episodes took place in 1979. Hyde had an 18th birthday in 1978, despite dialogue suggesting that he is older than Eric, who turned 17 in episode 2, "Eric's Birthday" (set in 1976). Eric then turned 18 in episode 131, "Magic Bus" in 1978, two years after turning 17.
Furthermore, all of the teenage characters are juniors in high school at the beginning of the series (except for Jackie, who is a year younger) and they don't become seniors until Season 5, which they also graduate in the season finale. This, combined with the fact that there were holiday-themed episodes almost every season, indicated a sense of time on That '70s Show that was loose at best. M*A*S*H, which aired for eleven years despite the Korean War lasting only three years, also made liberal use of time settings.
The year is determined in the last scene of the opening credits, which reveals a close-up of a Wisconsin license plate that reads the names of the creators and the sticker with the two-digit year — in this case, either "76," "77," "78,"or "79," and, in the final episode, "80." The year stickers for Wisconsin plates are issued for the upcoming twelve months (e.g., a sticker for "80" would be issued in 1979). The plate also appears at the end as the production logo for Carsey-Werner, also showing the year.
That '70s Show
British remake
In 1999, the show was remade by the British ITV network as Days Like These using almost verbatim scripts with minor changes to cultural references. The show failed to attract an audience and was removed from the schedules after 10 of the 13 episodes were broadcast. The remaining three episodes were shown in later reruns.
After the failure of the UK remake, rival commercial terrestrial Five started broadcasting the original show in prime time before moving it to a post 11 p.m. time slot.

That '70s Show
Theme song
The show usually opens with the theme song, "In the Street," by Alex Chilton and Chris Bell of the band Big Star. It was initially sung by Todd Griffin, but beginning with the second season, the song was performed by the band Cheap Trick, whose version is referred to as "That '70s Song (In the Street)." In a Rolling Stone magazine article in 2000, Chilton thought it was ironic that he is paid $70 in royalties each time the song is aired.
According to the official That '70s Show website, Danny Masterson (Steven Hyde) yells "Hello Wisconsin!" during the first season and Rick Nielsen (lead guitarist/songwriter for Cheap Trick) in all other seasons.[2] The lyrics were also slightly different during the first season, with instead of "We're all alright!" being shouted twice (a reference to Cheap Trick's 1978 single "Surrender"), "Whooa yeah!" is heard. The first season's theme was also in the key of G, whereas in subsequent seasons it was lowered to the key of D.
Alternate holiday versions of the theme song were arranged for Halloween, Christmas and musical specials, using organ music and bells, respectively.
That '70s Show
Soundtracks
Several prominent songs from the decade can be heard on the series, and two soundtracks were released in 1999. The first is a collection of funk, soul and disco. The second is a collection of AOR songs.

LIKE OLD TIMES
July 5, 2007 -- "OCTOBER Road" actress Laura Prepon wants the world to know she's back with her longtime boyfriend, Chris Masterson. Prepon and Masterson split briefly in May, but were spotted "kissing and holding hands" during a dinner at the Meatpacking District's Fig & Olive a few nights ago. "They looked very much in love," dished a spy. "They kept going outside for cigarette breaks." Chris' brother Danny Masterson, who's Prepon's "That '70s Show" co-star, and a few friends joined the couple, who started dating in 2000. A rep for Prepon had no comment.

Taxi is an American sitcom that originally aired from 1978 to 1982 on ABC, and from 1982 to 1983 on NBC. The series, which won 18 Emmy Awards including three for Outstanding Comedy Series, focuses on the everyday lives of a handful of New York City taxi drivers and their abusive dispatcher. The series was produced by the John Charles Walters Company in association with Paramount Television.
Taxi was inspired by the non-fiction article "Night-Shifting for the Hip Fleet" by Mark Jacobson, which appeared in the September 22, 1975 issue of New York magazine. This article helped suggest the idea for the show to James L. Brooks and David Davis, though nothing from it was used directly. The article was a profile of several drivers who worked the night shift for a New York cab company.
Taxi
Taxi
Premise and themes
The show focuses on the employees of the Sunshine Cab Company. Of all the taxi drivers, only Alex, who is disillusioned with life, considers it his profession. The others view driving as a temporary job until they can succeed in their outside careers and leave it behind. Elaine O'Connor Nardo is a receptionist at an art gallery, Tony Banta is a boxer with a losing record, and Bobby Wheeler is a struggling actor. John Burns, who was written out of the show after the first season, is working his way through college. The rest of the drivers take pity on "Reverend Jim" Ignatowski, an aging hippie minister burnt out from drugs, and help him become a cabbie. Some episodes involve one of the characters having an opportunity to realize his or her dream and move up in the world, only to see it yanked away. Others deal with the workers coping with their unsatisfying lives and their amoral dispatcher Louis De Palma.
Taxi
Despite the zany humor regularly featured on the show, Taxi often tackled such dramatic issues as drug addiction, single parenthood, blindness, bisexuality, teenage runaways, failed marriages, sexual harassment, pre-menstrual mood disorders, gambling addiction, and the loss of a loved one.
Taxi
Characters The cast of Taxi during the final season of production: (back row, left to right) Danza, Kaufman, Kane; (front) Lloyd, Henner, Hirsch, DeVito
Alex Rieger (Judd Hirsch) - Alex is the sensible, compassionate core of the show, the one everyone else turns to for advice. At one point, he reveals his frustration with this unwanted burden. He once worked in an office, with a good chance of advancement, but lost his job due to his refusal to follow the company line. He was married to Phyllis Bornstein (Louise Lasser). When his wife divorced him because of his lack of ambition, she sought sole custody of their baby daughter, Cathy; he gave in rather than fight. He is also estranged from his philandering father, Joe (Jack Gilford). Alex is a recovered compulsive gambler, although he relapses in one episode. A pessimist, he has resigned himself to driving a cab for the rest of his life.
Louie De Palma (Danny DeVito) - The dispatcher for the Sunshine Cab Company. He not only has no morals to speak of, he positively revels in his misdeeds. Nothing is beneath him, from taking advantage of a drunken friend of his sometime-girlfriend Zena Sherman (played by real-life wife Rhea Perlman) to gambling with a young boy to stealing from the company. He lives with his mother (DeVito's real mother, Julia, in two episodes). Under the amoral exterior beats a heart of pure lead. That said, he has (on very rare occasions) helped his workers, as in the episode in which an arrogant hairstylist (played by Ted Danson) gives Elaine a garish makeover just before a very important event and further humiliates her by stating he "didn't know how to do taxi drivers." It is Louie who bolsters her confidence to confront him. TV Guide ranked De Palma first on its list of the 50 greatest TV characters of all time.
Elaine O'Connor Nardo (Marilu Henner) - Elaine is a divorced mother of two struggling to cope, while trying to realize her ambitions in the field of fine art. The object of lust of Louie, she is attracted to characters played by actors ranging from Tom Selleck to Wallace Shawn.
Tony Banta (Tony Danza) - The sweet-natured, if somewhat dimwitted boxer has little success in the sport. In fact, Louie makes a lot of money betting against him. Finally, the boxing commission takes away his license because he has been knocked out one too many times. Danza actually was a professional boxer.
Taxi
Characters continued
Bobby Wheeler (Jeff Conaway) (1978-1981) - Bobby is a shallow, conceited actor whose pretensions are Louie's favorite target. Success eludes Bobby. Once, he is signed up by a famous manager, but it turns out she does not want to represent him; she only wants him as a lover. Another time, he is cast in a pilot for a soap opera called Boise. The show goes into production, but his part is recast.
Reverend Jim Ignatowski (Christopher Lloyd) (1979-1983) - A burned-out relic of the '60s, Jim lives in a world of his own. He was once a hard-working, serious student at Harvard University, with an extremely wealthy father (Victor Buono), but one bite of a drug-laden brownie was enough to get him hooked and send him into a downward spiral. (His last name was originally Caldwell; he changed it to Ignatowski, thinking that the backward pronunciation of that name was "Star Child.") The cabbies help him pass a written exam to become one of them, in a particularly memorable episode (see Quotes section below). He occasionally exhibits unexpected talents, such as the ability to play the piano masterfully. TV Guide placed Ignatowski 32nd on its list of the 50 greatest TV characters of all time.
Latka Gravas (Andy Kaufman) - Latka is an immigrant from a very strange land, often speaking in his invented foreign tongue ("ibi da", "nik nik"). He works as a mechanic, fixing the taxis. Latka was an adaptation of the "Foreign Man" character Kaufman originated in his stand-up comedy act. He eventually grew tired of the gag, so the writers gave Latka multiple personality disorder, allowing Kaufman to play other characters, the most frequent one being a repellent, smooth-talking lounge-lizard persona calling itself Vic Ferrari. In one episode however, he becomes Alex, with profound insights into "his" life. Just when he is about to reveal to the real Alex the perfect solution for all his problems, he reverts back to Latka.
Simka Dahblitz-Gravas (Carol Kane) (1980-1983) - She is from the same country as Latka. They belong to different ethnic groups which traditionally detest each other, but they fall in love and eventually get married. She is much more assertive than her husband, often standing up to Louie for him.
John Burns (Randall Carver) (1978-1979) - The naive young man works as a cabbie to pay for college. According to Carver, "...the characters of John Burns and Tony Banta were too similar...Some of the lines were almost interchangeable..."[2], so he was dropped after the first season without explanation.
Jeff Bennett (J. Alan Thomas) - Sunshine Cab's assistant dispatcher, he shares the "cage" with Louie but rarely speaks or interacts with the other characters. One exception is the Season 5 episode "Crime and Punishment", wherein Louie turns Jeff in for stealing car parts from the company and selling them on the black market (a crime which Louie himself committed).

Taxi
Ratings
The show was acclaimed by critics and was a ratings success during its first two seasons, placing in the Top Ten in its first season behind the ABC powerhouse line-up of Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, and Three's Company, but numbers plummeted when it was moved from that secure time-slot into more competitive positions. The show was cancelled in 1982 by ABC. The show was then picked up for its fifth and final season by NBC, being paired at first on Thursday night with Cheers.
Taxi
The show's seasonal ratings were as follows:
1978-1979: #9
1979-1980: #13
1980-1981: #53
1981-1982: #53
1982-1983: #73
Taxi
Production
The series was produced on Stage 23, at Paramount Television, in Los Angeles, California, from July 5, 1978, to February 18, 1983.
Taxi
Opening sequence
The opening titles show a cab driving east across the Queensboro Bridge. The footage originally was intended as a "bridge" between scenes and is only about fifteen seconds long; parts of it are subtly repeated a few times to fill the opening. Tony Danza drove the cab in the sequence; he was in New York to shoot a scene that would air in the first season finale. It ended up being the whole series' only scene filmed in New York.
The external shot of the Sunshine Cab Company was of a garage in New York's West Village. The building has since been demolished, the site now containing an apartment building and a Rite Aid.
Taxi
Theme music
Bob James wrote the theme music for Taxi throughout its entire run, including the main theme, "Angela", which was written for a sequence in episode 3 of the first season ("Blind Date", see below). The producers liked the slower, more melancholy tune better than the original, more up-tempo original opening theme chosen, which was the title cut of James's 1978 album, Touchdown, on which "Angela" also appears.[citation needed]

I'm a cab driver. I'm the only cab driver in this place.

Whaaat...doooeees...aaa...yeeel-looow...liiight...meeeaaan? Director James Burrows instructed Conaway and Lloyd to continue repeating their lines until he called cut. The gag wound up being performed at least a half-dozen times in the studio until the audience laughter finally died down. Henner (who was also in the scene) can be seen stabbing herself in the hand with a pen in order to avoid laughing.

As Latka tries to save Cab 804 (which is now a heap of scrap metal), Elaine and Alex recount their memories of the beloved cab. Elaine picks up the man of her dreams and has a wonderful night with him, only to find she will never see him again. Alex delivers a baby in the backseat. Latka manages to repair the cab, although several defects remain (such as not being able to go over 20 miles per hour), and Alex gets to take it out first. However, the engine catches on fire after Alex starts it up. In subsequent episodes, the cab appears to work fine.)

Taxi
Cast reunions
Danny DeVito hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live soon after Taxi was canceled after the fourth season. A filmed bit had him driving around New York looking morose until inspiration strikes and he blows up the ABC building. In addition, the Taxi cast members were given an opportunity for closure, which up to that point had been denied them due to the abrupt cancellation. The actors took their "final" bows during DeVito's opening monologue, only to have NBC pick up the show. HBO was also interested in renewing the series for a fifth season after ABC's cancellation.
Decades later, most of the cast returned to play their younger selves and briefly re-enact scenes for the Kaufman biopic, Man on the Moon. Judd Hirsch, Marilu Henner, Jeff Conaway, Carol Kane, Randall Carver, J. Alan Thomas, and Christopher Lloyd all reprised their roles. The only two who did not were Danny DeVito, who produced and co-starred in the film as Kaufman's manager George Shapiro, and Tony Danza, who declined to participate.
Kaufman incident
Kaufman wanted his stage character Tony Clifton to appear on the show. "Clifton" was hired for a guest role, but after throwing a tantrum on stage, had to be escorted off of the Paramount studio lot by security guards.[citation needed] The incident was recreated in Man on the Moon.

CBS Home Entertainment has released the first three seasons of Taxi on DVD in Region 1. It is unknown if the remaining 2 seasons will be also be released.

Talk Shows
The Tonight Show with Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, and Jay Leno.
Late Night With David Letterman.
Late Night With Conan O'Brien.
Late Night with Conan O'Brien is an Emmy Award-winning American late-night talk show on NBC. The second incarnation of NBC's Late Night franchise, O'Brien's debuted in 1993 after previous host David Letterman moved to CBS to host the Late Show opposite The Tonight Show. The show features varied comedic material, celebrity interviews, and musical and stand-up comedy performances. Late Night airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. Eastern / 11:37 p.m. Central in the United States.
O'Brien's show originated as a replacement for Late Night with David Letterman. For the first seven years of the show, Andy Richter served as O'Brien's comedy sidekick, but since then O'Brien has been the show's sole featured performer. The show's house band is The Max Weinberg 7, led by drummer Max Weinberg.
O'Brien is currently scheduled to leave Late Night in 2009 to replace Jay Leno on The Tonight Show. On April 24, 2008, Fox News reported that Jimmy Fallon has been selected to replace O'Brien in 2009. Fallon selected Lorne Michaels, from SNL, as producer. Fallon must still select a band for the show.
I enjoy talk shows like The Late Night with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno
I enjoy watching Conan O'Brien and Craig Ferguson too.
Can you imagine if you could get all the talk show hosts together in one big livingroom for a chat.
You might not get a word in but you would be laughing non-stop because even though you can learn to be funny it helps if you have a natural sense of humor to go with the knowledge.

Talk/Chat show
A talk show (American) or chat show (Global) is a television or radio program where one person or group of people come together to discuss various topics put forth by a host. Sometimes, these shows feature a panel of guests, usually consisting of a group of people who are learned or who have great experience in relation to whatever issue is being discussed on the show for that episode. Other times, a single guest discusses their work or area of expertise with a host or co-hosts. A call-in show takes live phonecalls from callers listening at home, in their cars, etc.
Genres
Television talk shows often feature celebrity guests who talk about their work and personal lives as well as the their latest films, TV shows, music recordings or other projects they'd like to promote to the public. The hosts are often comedians who open the shows with comedy monologues.
Talk-radio host Howard Stern also hosted a show that was syndicated nationally, then moved to satellite radio's Sirius. The tabloid show genre, pioneered by Phil Donahue but popularized by Oprah Winfrey was extremely popular during the last two decades of the 20th century.
Politics are hardly the only subject of American shows, however. Other radio talk show subjects include Car Talk hosted by NPR and Coast to Coast AM hosted by Art Bell and George Noory which discusses topics of the paranormal, conspiracy theories, fringe science and the just plain weird. Sports shows are also very popular ranging from high-budget shows like The Best Damn Sports Show Period to Max Kellerman's original public access show Max on Boxing.
History
Talk shows have been broadcast on television since the earliest days of the medium. Late night shows are among the oldest, the oldest of which is RTÉ's The Late Late Show. Current late night shows such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Show with David Letterman have aired for years, featuring celebrity guests and comedy sketches. TV news pioneer Edward R. Murrow hosted a show entitled Small World in the late 1950s and since then, political TV talk shows have predominantly aired on Sunday mornings.
Syndicated daily shows range from tabloid shows, such as The Jerry Springer Show to celebrity interview shows like Ellen to industry leader The Oprah Winfrey Show which popularized the former genre and has been evolving towards the latter.
Syndicated daily shows began to gain more popularity during the mid-1970's and reached their height of with the rise of the tabloid show. Morning shows gradually replaced earlier forms of programming - there were a plethora of morning game shows during the 1960's and early to mid-1970's, and some stations formerly showed a morning movie in the time slot that many shows now occupy.
Shows have more recently started to appear on Internet Radio. Also, several internet blogs are in talk show format including the Baugh Experience.
The Guinness world record of 33 hours for longest show was broken in 28 August 2007 by Davor Dretar Drele and Kristijan Petroviæ - Kiky in Varaždin, Croatia during the Špancir festival. The show lasted for 35 hours.
Suite Life on Deck
Suite Life on Deck
I am a great fan of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. It is a great family show with something for everyone.
The Twins cause trouble around the hotel and are rescued by their mother or Maddie or Moseby or Arwin, or anyone else who gets caught up in their mischief.
Carey does a great job as a single mother while she sings for her supper and the supper the boys eat.
Maddie (the hotel candy girl) and London (the daughter of the owner of the Tipton Hotels) teach each other what it is like in their respecitive circles. Maddie teaches London street smarts while London teaches Maddie how to buy shoes.
Moseby (the hotel manager) enforces.....tries the rules and regulations of the Tipton Hotel. He often gets into trouble himself.
Esteban (the bellhop) is the good-hearted victim of some of the twins trouble making. (is that the right way to say that?) Esteban gets in trouble too. He helps the other characters in different situations.
Arwin is the hotel custodian and a wiz at gadgets. He entertains the twins, the boys that is. He also has a crush on Carey, the twins' mother. I love owls. He gets kissed by Carey on many different situations and faints from the overwhelming pleasure. He's one lucky guy. She does set him straight....."We'll just be friends....." well in different words...yawn. We all know they should be together and the twins love Arwin anyway. He can fix just about anything.
Muriel finishes the package as she plays clean up or will not clean up.
Whenever some disaster happens Muriel usually comes into the scene and says "I'm not cleaning that up."
I know her from somewhere else.
Anyway. Now they're doing Life of Deck.
Carey won't be there so I won't enjoy the show as much. Maddie won't be there so I'm losing even more joy.
The twins are there. London will be there. Moseby will be there. Let's see how the show goes.

The series stars Dylan and Cole Sprouse. They play Zack and Cody, identical twins, whose single mother, Carey, played by Kim Rhodes, is the headlining singer at the Tipton Hotel in Boston. They reside on the twenty-third floor of the five-star Tipton hotel as a provision of Carey's contract, the series is based on the two twins being troublemakers. The series has spawned three video games, including one for the Nintendo DS entitled The Suite Life of Zack & Cody: Tipton Trouble and a titular release for the Game Boy Advance entitled The Suite Life of Zack & Cody: Tipton Caper. Production
The show was created by Danny Kallis and Jim Geoghan. The production of the first season, which contained 26 episodes, began in fall 2004. The series premiered on March 18, 2005 and held the record of the highest-rated Disney Channel premiere (but was later beaten out by Hannah Montana in 2006 and Cory in the House in 2007).
The series was so popular that Disney Channel ordered 39 episodes for a second season, which brought the total to 65, the usual limit of episodes Disney normally allows their series to go. During the second season, The Suite Life took part in a tri-episode crossover with fellow Disney Channel Original Series Hannah Montana and That's So Raven. The crossover, entitled That's So Suite Life of Hannah Montana aired on July 28, 2006.
The show is currently broadcasting its third and final season, which began on June 23, 2007. The episodes of the third season fit more specific air date order than the previous seasons. Ashley Tisdale is absent in much of the season due to her commitment to High School Musical: The Concert and filming High School Musical 2. For this reason, All That alumnus Giovonnie Samuels (as Nia Moseby, Mr. Moseby's niece) was introduced as a recurring guest star to fill her place.[citation needed] Tisdale returned as Maddie in the episode "Team Tipton" after a long period of absences and short cameos. Brenda Song also missed a few episodes of the third season due to her filming of College Road Trip.
In the December 2007 issue of Tiger Beat, it is mentioned that The Suite Life is not making any more episodes, however, there are some episodes that haven't aired yet. This was also featured in the October 2007 issue of Disney Adventures where it showed pictures from an episode guest starring The Cheetah Girls and Chris Brown. The third season has in total 23 episodes [1]. The Suite Life on Deck, a spin-off of this show, is already in production with Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song and Phill Lewis. The third season premiered on Disney Channel India on December 24, 2007 along with the premiering of Hannah Montana's second season.

The third season has in total 23 episodes. The Suite Life on Deck, a spin-off of this show, is already in production with Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song and Phill Lewis. The third season premiered on Disney Channel India on December 24, 2007 along with the premiering of Hannah Montana's second season.

Settings
Tipton Hotel The Tipton Hotel is where Zack, Cody, Carey, and London all live, and where the majority of the other characters in the series work. It is the main setting for the series, particularly the basement, the Tipton's 5-star restaurant, the lobby, the game room, the Martins' suite on the 23rd floor, and London Tipton's penthouse.
Buckner Middle School During the second season, the series has started using the younger characters' schools as locations. Zack and Cody attend Buckner Middle School and their school team is the Badgers as revealed in the episode "Election" and "Nurse Zack".
In the scene outside of the school where a few students are walking between two buildings shows "The Mall" area that's located in Lincoln Park High School, in Chicago, IL.
Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrow Catholic School Maddie, Mary Margaret, Corrie and Leslie attend this private school during the first two seasons of the show, with London joining in Season Two. In Season Three, both London and Maddie attend the same public school as Zack and Cody.
Settings continued
Paul Revere Mini Mart
Zack and Cody work for a man named Wayne Wormser at a local mini market. The Paul Revere Mini Mart is across the street from another mini mart with a patriotic name and theme, The Betsy Ross Stop and Shop.
Camp Heaven On Earth
The summer camp where Maddie works over the summer. The only part of the camp shown is the cabin in which Maddie and the young girls stay.
Cheevers High School
Where Zack, Cody, London, Maddie, and Nia attend along with other students including Bob, Mark and Barbara. This setting was used in "Lip Synchin' in the Rain", "First Day of High School", and "Orchestra".
Other places in Boston
Scenes also take place in several other places in Boston, including Fenway Park, a movie theater, Maddie's home, the local shopping mall, a bowling alley, a miniature golf course, Kurt Martin's house (seen in "A Tale of Two Houses"), Mr. Mosbey's house (seen in "The Hotel Inspector" and "Ask Zack"), the Goose Lodge, (seen in 'Not So Suite Sixteen'), and Liberty Park, the park across the street from the Tipton Hotel. In "The Arwin That Came To Dinner", Arwin's house is shown, first boring, then when Zack and Cody pitch in, pimped out.
Hollywood
The two-part episode called "The Suite Life Goes Hollywood" is filmed in Hollywood which is where all of the movie sets are and also is where the producers shoot the episode for the TV Commercial. The movie set they film this episode in is the real set they film the actual episodes in just zoomed out more so you can see the roof and other parts of the set which they don't show on screen.

Spin-Offs
Arwin
This was a spin off that was set to feature Arwin from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Arwin was supposed to have quit his job at the Tipton and moved in with his sister to help her raise her children. Not very many episodes were filmed, and the show was not picked up by Disney Channel. Instead, there will be another spin off entitled The Suite Life on Deck.
The Suite Life On Deck
The Suite Life on Deck is a spin-off of the Disney Channel Original Series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. According to TV Guide, some of the stars of The Suite Life; including Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song, and Phill Lewis will reprise their roles for the spin-off. Ashley Tisdale (Maddie Fitzpatrick) and Kim Rhodes (Carey Martin) will not return as regulars. The show is in pre-production since Writers Guild of America strike has ended. The show will be set on a cruise ship with the brothers and London attending a semester-at-sea program, while Mr. Moseby is assigned as their guardian.
Zack and Cody go aboard on a luxury passenger cruise liner, the SS Tipton, owned by London's father, as it cruises the world with tourists and students who attend classes on Deck Eight, the one high school that London's dad thinks will make his daughter a better student. But while they're out to sea, Zack and Cody still have their compass pointed towards mischief.

Stand Up Comedy
Stand Up
In the last few years we've lost Bernie Mac and George Carlin.
Bernie Mac was pretty powerful as a comedian who could be seen as a great spokesperson or icon for black people. I don't mean that he should only be liked by black people; his comedy is significantly based on his experiences as an African-American.
George Carlin was an icon for comedy in general. I don't remember any of his humor dealing with race. He did a lot of comedy about swearing and religion.
We will miss both Bernie Mac and George Carlin. Check out my pages on them. You might learn some new things about them.
Stand Up Comedy
Is anyone here from out of town?
I'm sure lots of you.
Why did the chicken cross the road?
Knock knock.
Did you hear the one about?
There are many comedians. Some are brilliant. Some are okay.
Stand up comedy can deal with politics, driving, NEWS, situations, religion, background, gender, intelligence, sex, relationships, environment, growing up, and much more. Here I have a few examples of all of that. I will add more as I go. I can already think of many other names that should get added.
Tell me who you think should be on this list and why. Enjoy. I like most types of humor. Simple insults are okay but when you are being racist, abusive, or using your subject as a whipping dummy to entertain your "friends" that's not comedy or humor. You might want to get a personality or become a stronger person rather than use people who either can't defend themselves or aren't there to defend themselves.
Who is your favorite? Who do you hate? How do you feel about comedy that is aimed at a particular person? By that I mean what do you think of comedians who make fun of people to the point of being hurtful?

Stand-Up Comedian Richard Jeni Dies In Apparent Suicide
Monday March 12, 2007
CityNews.ca
You may not know his name, but Richard Jeni has probably made you laugh at least once or twice.
He was a frequent guest on the Tonight Show. He was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
His girlfriend, Norma Eisenman called the police and told them, "My boyfriend shot himself in the face."
He was alive but seriously injured when officers arrived, and he died shortly thereafter in hospital.
According to Jeni's girlfriend police had not officially confirmed the death as a suicide.
One of his HBO comedy specials was "A Big Steaming Pile of Me."
A previous special, Platypus Man, won a Cable ACE award and was the basis for a UPN sitcom, which ran for only one season.
Jeni also made regular Tonight Show appearances when Johnny Carson was host, and continued the tradition after Jay Leno took over.
Born in Brooklyn, he was first noticed in 1990 for his special Richard Jeni: Boy From New York City, following that up with the immensely popular Crazy From the Heat.
Fellow comedian Frazer Smith said up-and-coming comedians were inspired by him.
"He was probably one of the best standup comedians in the last 50 years," he said. "He had tons and tons of material. He was looked up to by all the young comedians, a total pro."
Jeni appeared in films including The Mask, The Aristocrats, and National Lampoon's Dad's Week Off. He also wrote material for Chris Rock's turn hosting the Academy Awards in 2005.
